New Mexico to get $1.6 Million to play LSU

Didn’t realize LSU has never played UNM. Also, when this game was announced in 2018, the $1.6 million contractual agreement to play LSU was the highest ever payout for UNM.

Stupid to pay them that much. Plenty of closer teams that would play for less. Once the super conferences are formed teams will bid less to get scheduled. Then teams will die off due to financial burden.

I'm sure there are/were some tie ins that contributes to it. Agree it could've been spent instate or closer but it is what it is. As long as don't lose no one will remember we played them in a few years.

We're paying Army the same next year. Bama paid $1.9 to Utah State, Colorado St got $2 from Florida and Tulane
got $1.93 from Auburn. Unless you want to play FBS schools, you're going to be paying in the 1-1.5 range.

You’re partially correct. NM State is one of the worst teams in the country….however, that’s not who we’re playing this Saturday.

That's the going rate for G5 opponents. You can get FCS games for less.

So basically if you have season tickets to LSU you also have a seat at the UNM stadium.
