Neutral Fans Coming to Bama Game For Annual Rivalry Trip - Advice/Help?

Hey gang, you probably get some variation of this frequently, but hoping you can humor me and share some insights.
Group of buddies and I take a trip each year for a college rivalry game going on 15 years or so now and we’ll be visiting for the game against Alabama this weekend. 6 guys in our mid 30s all originally from the same modest hometown in Iowa looking to cut loose a little bit on a rare weekend without the wives and kids and looking for advice on the must sees/dos, etc.
We’ll get into Baton Rouge tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon and will probably be looking to go out to bars somewhere. Friday we’ll likely check out campus, Mike’s habitat and do the bball game on Friday night to see the arena. Saturday we’ll likely be in lot 408 as our home base/jumping off point and roam some from there.
Looking for any/all recommendations on where to eat, bars to go to, other things to do in BR, bets tailgates/areas to check out on game day (the more Cajun/creole the better imo). We have seats up top (637 I think) with chairbacks, but some of us might be looking to upgrade to lowers. If anyone has any leads on anything better than secondary market feel free to let me know. Also willing to sell some of what we have up top for a bit less than secondary market prices if that’s of interest to anyone.
Wouldn’t be opposed to recommendations for best late night spots on bourbon street in NO too (first time, two of us on the plane that way as I type this).
Appreciate the consideration and any help you might be able to provide!

You’ll probably get this post numerous times in this thread, but if you’re cool and can handle some back and forth about whichever team you support/follow, anyone out there will welcome you to hang out and eat/have some drinks.
Obviously you aren’t necessarily a fan of LSU or Bama, but I assume you and your buddies root for someone, so LSU fans will be more than happy to give you a hard time when they find out who it is. It’s all in good fun though.

Wear a cup. Bama' fans will kick you in the sack for a feel.

Sucks that you won’t get the full experience of a night game in TS. Crowd will still be electric tho. As far as tailgating, just walk around and make friends. LSU fans will feed you a lot and are wayyy more cordial than they get credit for.

First off, enjoy.
I’ve hosted these groups before.
Go to Ivars and Chimes on Friday. Mid-30s is too old for Fred’s, but may be worth running by to say you did. Saturday, get on campus early. 9:30 or so. Start around Indian mounds and work down stadium drive. Try to catch band. Have the outgoing guy in your group ask people if he can buy beers for your crew and offer $20, nobody will take it. Tell them you’ve heard LSU is the best of the best and some good Midwest boys wanted to see for yourself. Mention you’ve never had Boudain or jumbalaya. You’ll be received with open arms.
Get into stadium by 20 mins before kickoff. Watch band. Watch intro video.
Enjoy!!
Much of the fun on these trips happens all before the ball is kicked. There is no place like it.

Go to Elsie’s Plate and Pie and enjoy.
Also you just need to wear a jersey of the team you guys normally pull for and LSU fans will strike up a conversation and pull you into their tail gate.

Hope you have fun, I’ve been doing the same kinda trip for 27 years, nobody does it better than the SEC and LSU is at the top of that list.

First, there is no such thing as a neutral in LSU vs Alabama. Get onboard the Tiger train!
You are getting lots of good info. No matter, day or night, football in Tiger Stadium is a spiritual event. First time back for me a couple of weeks ago after 20 years in exile. Purple and Gold heaven.

Get into the stadium about half an hour before kick to make sure you see the band come out. When they hit the four notes to each corner of the stadium it is awesome.

At the end of last nights basketball game, the PA announcer said you can get a free basketball ticket on Friday night if you present your football ticket. I assume that would be at the ticket window but might be worth trying to get some more information on if that’s in your plans to save a few bucks. Enjoy the weekend and Geaux Tigers!

You simply must go eat at Chimes. Get the blackened gator and chargrilled oysters.
If your budget allows, get reservations at Louisiana Lagniappe for a nice seafood dinner. You’re welcome!

Don’t go to Krystal Burger on Boubon St when Bama is in town

Off the top of my head (probably missing something):
Alabama @ Tennessee
Texas vs OU @ Cotton Bowl
LSU @ Arkansas
Notre Dame @ Michigan
Stanford @ Notre Dame
Michigan @ Penn State
USC @ UCLA
Iowa State @ Kansas State
Minnesota @ Iowa
Nebraska @ Colorado
USC @ Oregon
LSU @ Texas A&M
And of course we’ve all seen Iowa State vs Iowa both places several times.
One year half the group was having kids all spread out a month in the fall so we had to do bball instead and went to Illinois @ Indiana.

The smart ones in our group are Cyclones. Couple Hawkeye fans and a Northern Iowa Panther.
We generally (not always or all of us every time) root for the home team and will gear up that the bookstore and wear LSU stuff in this instance other than me. I always wear Iowa State stuff. Will probably try to go black or grey though so I dont look like I’m rooting for the tide.

Yeah, bummed it isn’t a night game, but Baton Rouge is one of a handful of places that we’ll surely do more than once. Will have to get back for a prime time kick.
Appreciate the sentiment!

Anyone who takes it more than just fun banter is a fricking weirdo
