Louisiana is a small state, and the university has limited resources.

If you want money for the men's basketball program to improve, you might need to give up all the money that you're giving to the women's basketball coach. You might need to give up money for paying over a million dollars for a tight ends coach. You might have to cut back on your nil budget for your baseball team.

LSU is a great university, but you can't have it all.

What are you even talking about. Compared to the money that is in play in football and baseball, basketball is a drop in the lake. All we need in basketball is a good coach, the money is not the problem.

The problem is that you needed a great hire.

A good hire doesn't constantly get blown the frick out in most of his big games.

Wife works for LSU foundation, and have a buddy in Major Gifts at TAF. Believe it or not, we have the alumni $$$.

We have to convince our alumni that it's worth their $$$. If they wanted to burn money, they could just pay more taxes!

This! Good coach, good product, the fans show back up and basketball is making money again.

Terrible take by OP.

No problem. Sacrifice WBB for men’s basketball.

LSU football just finished with a top 10 recruiting class and the number 1 transfer portal class. I would say that's the opposite of poor.

I wish this narrative would die already. How many times does it need to be proven false?

The basketball team has had top 15 classes 2 of MMs 3 seasons here. We just made a bad hire there, it has nothing to do with money.

I mean this is simply not true money is not the problem. But if it were choosing to fund Women’s basketball over Men’s basketball is insane

Well as it stands now WBB is fun to watch. Lot of drama as well. SC vs LSU is like soap opera viewing. I watched a couple of the MBB games and literally was sorry I wasted my time with the product they put on the floor. I m no basketball aficionado for sure. I remember following Pistol, Shaq and my dad talking about Bob Petit but that was centuries ago. I just think with the fewer number of players needed in basketball that LSU could buy a competitive team. Not sure how the NIL and the revenue sharing will distributed among the different entities. Not even an idea how that will even be decided. Guess we will need to stay tuned till we hear more details from those who control the purse strings.

He didn’t say lsu was poor. He’s saying that we can’t have all programs with top tier coaches bc of the money lsu is already spending. The fb , women bball, baseball and probably gymnastics coaches are top pd in their sports and have major NIL funding for their players.

What if we hadn't made that *ahem* "unfortunate" coaching change in MBB?

Just imagine that...

The one question I would have for you is how many schools are there out there that are really elite in football, baseball, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball? I would imagine it’s very few, if any at all. We invest a shite ton of money into baseball and women’s basketball. The vast majority of schools don’t do that. You still have to pick and choose what to invest in, as do other schools. There isn’t an unlimited stream of money for any school.

100%. Below .500 vs ranked opponents along with vacated wins for cheating and a dead staffer due to his arrogance and poor decision.
