You should try not being such a massive pussy sometime

Because the meaningless drivel at the bottom of your schedule is slightly better than ours pointless filler. It’s fricking white noise. Look at the real games.

Looks to be a few in here showing their true colors. Good thing everything will be decided on the field.

Counting games as anything but equal increases the subjectivity of any conclusion you can possibly draw from related data.
Subjective and simplistic need to meet somewhere, like a % gain for P5 wins over G5 shouldn't be so difficult?
Disclaimer- I was never even once mistaken for a statistician.

OOC doesn’t matter when you fricking play 4 or 5 ranked conference opponents every year INCLUDING fricking Alabama who is usually ranked #1 or#2.
And have Florida as your 'designated out-of-division rival every year.
Most of the OTHER conferences have their 'rent-a-win' calibre opponents WITHIN their conference, so they have to go OOC to gain some legitimacy.
Any SEC Western Division team faces the thouhest schedule imaginable compare to any other conference .

Keep it. Y’all are good people. Two Peach Bowl games I found myself hanging out with LSU fans. Y’all are good people and fun to hang out with. If I can I’ll make that trip.

You realize Minnesota is #8 right ? You are acting like Penn St lost to a shitty team like South Carolina at home
The same Minnesota team that only beat 1 ranked team and lost to #17 Iowa. What about Penn St? They only beat two ranked team this year. They barely beat #17 Iowa and barely beat #16 Michigan. At Best, Penn ST. is a #15 team and Minnesota a #18 team. OSU shouldn't get style points or ranking credit for beating up on bottom feeder 25 teams.

I’ll be in Clemson for that one.
It will be my first time in South Carolina.

Then name the 17 teams that should be ahead of Minnesota and the 14 that should be ahead of Penn St? Then after you name them, tell me how many ranked teams they beat? did they have any close games? The rankings are not some ISO 9000 universal standard, ie you have to beat X # of ranked teams to be considered top 10 The rankings can not be 1-14 the SEC then everyone else

ETA: if your only loss is by 5 on the road to #18, that's still not a bad loss so your original point is still silly.

Only because the SOS formula is severely flawed.

Beautiful place. Clemson is located in the foothills. Nice views of the mountains. Greenville is the place you want to stay and it’s only about 25 miles away. Downtown Greenville has a lot to do. Most Clemson people are good people but yeah just as any other school you might run into an idiot. Lot of hills on campus so your walk to the stadium may take longer than you think.

quote:Depends on who the teams have played and what their opponents’ combined record is. In a nutshell, my SOS function counts a team’s opponents’ records (× ~.618) and opponents’ opponents’ records (× ~.381) with a mechanism for FCS games that would be a pain the arse to explain here.
So in your computer program for OOC slates between 2 teams, 2 10-0 G5 wins trump 2 9-1 P5 wins?
I’ll give you an example: let’s compare Notre Dame and Cincinnati.
School - w% - ow% - oow%
Notre Dame .818 .614 .529 (SOS 3)
Cincinnati .909 .538 .532 (SOS 23)
Cincinnati has a better record than Notre Dame, but beating Notre Dame helps you more, mostly because of that relatively big disparity in ow%.

go change out of those panties and put some big boy pants on.
Need some big non-conference home games like we used to have back in the 70s 80s

the 14 that should be ahead of Penn St?

that would make them 13, but who is quibbling

The discussion started because some guy said they lost to Minnesota, like i was a normal bad Minnesota team and not an 10-1, top 10 Minnesota.
But since you brought it up, who has Florida beaten? Please note, I don;t disagree with you, i think they are very good, but PSU is 10, UF 11, so not a big deal

quote:Minnesota is highly suspect for a top 10 team. They had extremely close games to open the season against Georgia Southern, Fresno, and San Diego St. Really their only positive is the win over PSU. The only teams they could blow out are the bottom dwellers of the Big 10 like Rutgers which is one of the worst teams in college football.

You are basically moving the goal posts. You first acted like losing to them was a bad loss, then they were #18 (oddly specific

Aside from Rutgers and Maryland who are truly awful, and a bad NW, they pounded Illinois who is bowl eligible, beat a top 10 PSU at home and lost to a top 20 Iowa on the road. I agree they are not some incredible, great team, but they are a good team
ETA all this is quibbling over nonsense. You originally acted like Penn State losing to Minnesota was some terrible loss, its not. Whether they are some "legit" top 10 team or not, they are at the very least pretty good so losing to them on the road is not as bad as UGA losing at home to a bad USCe
