Lots of schools play neck now.
We need a new neck.
We need a new neck.

it's not supposed to be "clever".
Well, if it's not clever, it's not funny and makes our fans look like white trash what is the point of it.
And before someone says "it fires our fans up", I would counter with 2 arguments:
1) Our fans were fired up for football games for almost 100 years before that song arrived, and
2) Even if it fired our fans up, I would ask everyone to put on their Big Boy Pants and answer the question, "is the reward worth the cost?".

Nope. Students ruined it.
You can’t play something with obscene words that **CLEARLY** can be heard on national tv. This is freakin common sense. If you can’t comprehend that I feel sorry for you.

What is the cost? No one gives a shite

Except for the goody two shoes who think their kids will never hear a curse word.
I let some curse words slip out in front of my kids. But I would NEVER say anything close to STTDB in front of them. Ever. Under any circumstances.
You do see the difference - right?

Stop going to games if you’re just going to be a lame buzzkill

But there is a cost. It makes our fans look like white trash to the National Media and viewing audience. In an environment where colleges are trying to attract quality kids (and parents) to their school, Perception matters. This doesn't apply to just athletes, but also to kids who are academically gifted.
Additionally, that negative perception is unfairly attached to every LSU graduate. I know that effects very few on this board, but for those of us who actually graduated from LSU it does matter.

Oh wow. You think a bunch of drunk kids yelling at a football game has that much of an impact on your life? Good lord you’re a fool. I wonder how all those Wisconsin grads have survived this long.

Former Tiger Band member here. It's a great feeling when you're playing a song and the crowd gets into it and is dancing or singing or chanting. It's just ... cool. That said, it's pretty hard to justify the chant with Neck. It seems cool when you're drunk and fired up for the game, but it's not the kind of thing you would want to do in front of your kids or your grandparents. I mean, I now travel a few times a year with four daughters for Tiger games, and I pray that the song isn't played in spite of what a fun song it is and how cool it is to see the whole crowd rocking. I just don't want that phrase in my daughters' heads. At the same time, I don't want to tell others how they need to have fun.
I just wish that we, as Tiger fans, could come up with a better chant than that for the song. Probably impossible to do at this point, but it would only take the student body one season to change the chant and eliminate the controversy over Neck. Just my two cents. Geaux Tigers!

I’m all for incorporating the chant into all of the piped in music.

99.9% of the population has no clue about neck

The people who use their young kids as an excuse to hate on neck bother me.
Your kid will either:
A) Not know what it means and continue to remain oblivious
Or
B) Know what it means and therefore it doesn’t make a lick of difference if they hear it one more time at a college football game around a bunch of loud obnoxious drunk people.
Not to mention the players and coaches love it and consistently advocate for it to come back.

You just proved his point on why they stopped play that song at the games dumbass.

You don't get what I'm saying, the song without the chant, without words. The instrumental that's played at every football game at every level, is a good instrumental.

I think it's hilarious that 10,000 super bad arse college kids are screaming it!
