If the clock starts at 19 or enrollment- how soon before schools have a 1 year gap year before college?

Court ruled NCAA couldn’t legislate junior college years and gave pavia a year for JC that he played. Now they will just start when you are 19, period. Will wade knew this going in and wanted to get players under the wire from Europe.

a gap year would count against eligibility.

We would've never had Chris Weinke or Josh Booty

The appeal was moot because the waiver had been given

that's exactly what I said

they lost the appeal because the lawsuit was moot once the NCAA granted Pavia (and others) a waiver.

Would it?

Not for the 5 star recruits, but if a 17 yo graduates, then works w a trainer for a year (hell they could roid up for the year if they are not competing) then they enroll- now they would be a year older/bigger. Not sure how they could drug test a kid not in school.

Is Trinidad grandfathered in? Was on the Ferris State team four years and OM for 2025.

ETA: I stand corrected, the hs graduation piece was removed from final language. What would a gap year look like? Who knows lol

I was really hoping for a sequel to Necessary Roughness but this kills it.

Everyone on next year's bball team (other than Madar) doesn't have an issue with age. They have an issue with the NCAA saying last month they can't have played somewhere like the Euroleague where the player made more than "expenses" or however it's described. Luckily, there are going to be a line of 50 other schools looking to fight that one, at least applying it to the 26/27 season, so you have to feel good about the NCAA backing off for next season. Still, it will be a relief when it's done.

No rules matter as long as local judges can issue orders related to eligibility.

Does any of this matter? I thought the NCAA had no authority since the courts keep slapping them down.
