When will this take effect? Do we not have a basketball team again?

So, in theory, LSU can land an underrated guy out of HS, he is on that line of “good college player” but probably not good enough to land in the NFL in a major way, and he can play 5 full years?

Player A plays a couple of games as a Freshman, repeat for Sophomore year. By his “Senior Season” or 4th year he’s a solid player, but doesn’t have a lot of NFL options. He can now come back for a 5th year? Let’s say this player never got hurt, so he played 5 full seasons for LSU, without an injury, or redshirt.

What about injuries? If an injury causes you to miss a year or two, you are just SOL?

Not sure the 5-5 will be overturned, most lawsuits will focus on players that graduated that only played 4 seasons within 4 yr window.

I think it goes into effect now, but if someone already used their 4 years of eligibility without using their redshirt, this does not apply to them. It applies to new incoming freshman. Anybody already in college with eligibility remaining can use the old rules or the new rule, whichever is more favorable for the player.

This really is best case for the sport.
Enough 7-8 year players.
Hell the 6 year senior is egregious.

JUCO exemption is what they’ll use to attack this and try to overturn it.

Players can go to JUCO and it doesn’t count against their eligibility anymore. Diego Pavia rule a couple years ago.

Oh, you mean the “rule” that doesn’t exist that people tried to extrapolate from a singular case that applied to exactly one person in one sport and every other player who tried to sue on the same grounds lost their case to the NCAA?

That one?

What if the redshirt reason is fake like Chambliss?

This gives them five year of eligibility, but they have to complete the eligibility within five years. If they choose to go to JUCO for 2 years, that’s 2 years out of your five year window that has passed, so no JUCO exemption.

There is no longer redshirt seasons. Everybody gets five years to play five years.

That’s what I mean, they’ll use it because it conflicts. Just telling you how they’ll try to attack the new ruling, I’m not for it.

It doesn’t conflict with anything because what you think it conflicts with doesn’t exist.

26 times in 2 years isn’t a “one time” occurrence.
