The competition is just a formality to delay the inevitable anyway. LSU coaches know who their QB is going to be.

So who do you believe will start at QB this fall?

If he went to the coaches and said “I’m not interested in a competition, make me the starter or I’m leaving” what are they supposed to say to that?

The same thing Meyer told Burrow when he told him Haskins was going to be the starter in the fall (or at least couldn't commit to Burrow being the starter). Burrow had been at OSU for 3 seasons at the end of 2017. An injury allowed a younger QB, Haskins, to pass him up for the backup QB job. In the biggest game of the 2017 season Haskins came of to the bench to replace an injured JT Barrett while OSU was losing to Michigan. Haskins led OSU to a TD and ultimately the win. I'm sure that made a big impression on the coaches.

With only two years of eligibility remaining Burrow wanted to know following the spring of 2018 if he was going to be the starter the next season or if a younger player would (virtually assuring Burrow he wouldn't be the starter at OSU for, at best, no more than 1 year). Knowing that "competing" into the fall and losing the job would essentially waste one of those two remaining years Burrow decided to leave immediately so he could have a chance at starting in 2018. The rest is history.

Here, we have a guy in Brennan who was injured last season and one of the guys who had to replace him had a big two game finish which the HC has said on multiple occasions "changed the trajectory" of the team. Brennan has patiently bided his time, but I don't think it would be unreasonable for him to want to know where he stands with his eligibility coming to an end soon. It would be unreasonable for him to make such a request as a true freshman. But the guy has been here 4 years. It's not an unfair question to ask NOW.

More time to game plan, the “Burrow path”.

Sounds like we'll have a professional quarterback in the fall

I suspect Max but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Myles either. I just think they know already. Whether Myles has pressed for that answer yet, I don’t know. But I suspect it happens in the next month or so

Why does everyone think he doesn’t already know?

The coaches have mapped this all out. Brennan is the starter. Max will play some and have some packages. If Brennan falters, Max is there.

They can’t risk losing TJ and Myles and go into the season with a true freshman backup.

This whole thing is settled.

Count on it... that’s what Brennan is here for that and at this point nothing else.. guarantee Brennan starts then goes to the NFL, Johnson and his brother take over in 2022.

Didn't he graduate from undergrad school last spring? So he must be graduating with a master's degree from grad school.

look, I've got nothing against Brennan. Seems like a good guy and has stuck around and worked hard, including his rehab from injury. I wish him nothing but the best in every aspect of life.

But you are delusional is you think Brennan will even sniff the NFL.

Seems premature and extreme to conclude that at this point, given his size and arm strength. Let's see what he can do fully healthy and with a significantly better OL situation this year, assuming he is named the starter.

Sorry, Brennan is already on the NFL radar and has been contacted as a senior and will play at the next level.

Had he not gotten hurt last season, he'd probably be in this upcoming NFL draft.

If Myles can learn pass protection in this pseudo semester, then he is the guy. And I think Max is going to be awesome.

Joe started an entire year before lighting everyone up. Myles does not have the luxury of an entire season’s experience . That is the difference.

I suspect that both play...and Myles takes the first snap, but WTF do I know.
