If I'm Brennan, with only two years of eligibility remaining, I'm not here for a "competition". I'm taking the "Burrow route" and going to the coaches now asking for assurance that I'm the starting QB. That would allow him time to go elsewhere to start and maximize his two remaining years the they foresee Johnson as the starter.

While LSU was the beneficiary, that is EXACTLY what Burrow did at OSU. If Brennan waits until the fall and Johnson is ultimately named the starter then Brennan has essentially wasted one of his two remaining years of eligibility.

I don't know if he will, but Brennan has the leverage to make the coaches decide now (even if not publicly stated) who will be the starting QB.

I have a hunch that he and Finley will transfer :/

It’s not going to be an ultimatum. Just an answer. It is best for both parties.

The competition is just a formality to delay the inevitable anyway. LSU coaches know who their QB is going to be.
