Lets not hold O accountable for events that have not happened yet. Base your support or dissent on what has actually occurred.

Way too early, but I felt pretty good Sunday night when we kicked Thug U's arse!!!!

LSU was obviously the far more disciplined team on Sun night. That is on the HC and I think he definitely passed that test.

I was against the hire, because I thought Orgeron would not have the bandwidth to keep all of the processes running. I figured he would be reactive - rushing in to fix one problem while three others fester. This has not proved to be the case.
He has shored up every obvious problem we had.
I will give him credit for triage and fixing the ones that were fixable immediately, immediately.
Except for early in the game, agreed- did look well prepared. And I'll give him credit for nipping that shite in the bud.
And for those that de-value that credit because "he's coaching for his job"...
A) so what, doesn't devalue it at all.
B) I think all coaches should be
C) was one of the problems with Les, he was too comfortable and had political backing (hence he felt no pressure to like change the offense). It's a good thing what that motivator results in an increase in net results.
To critique O...
A) can the improvement continue?
B) when the hot seat is gone is the motivation?
C) can you do this every game, for a season. Let's see.

Or maybe Aleva is smarter than you! IDK???

I've hated the lot of you for a while, the Coach O naysayers. And I've bit my fingers on typing it because on the whole, the crowd who hates our coach (Miles, O, Ensminger, etc) isn't worth the few seconds it takes to type to because by and large they are ignorant, and won't change.
If you want to know if Coach O is going to do well, take a look at other programs who have done really well over the short term and have had their coaches leeched away. Florida State is a prime example. See how well all that talent does without a top tier head coach. Their recruiting ranks have been 3,3,and 6th. How are they doing?
The fact is, when Miles was fired, O did a hell of a job that year keeping everything together. 2017 he had to convince players that he was the guy for the job which he did, and then he went 9-3-1 while his wife was gravely ill. He gets the guys ready to play, shows up in big games, and is doing great in recruiting. He stands behind his players, suspends the guys who need it, and does everything he can to put the team in a great position to win (see... QB and kicker). Every year can't be 2007 or 2011, FFS. Just chill the frick out and look around college football to what happens to teams when they lose a great coach and replace them with a bad one. Those teams don't look like LSU.

My hope this year is that he will grow to the level of HC LSU's program should expect. Thus far:
-pre-season preparation, including addressing player and coaching personnel and conditioning, A (hiring off-field advisors, locking down Aranda, getting Joe B. Miami looked out of shape)
-keeping players out of trouble in off-season, C-
-recruiting, B+ - A-
-Week one game prep: A+ (special kudos to special team detail)
Have to like the current trajectory.

Link? My expectations haven't changed. 0 has no excuses now and needs to win 10.

I think the hiring of the analyst was smart, he has some in depth knowledge of opposing teams and that is huge... For example watch his press conference about miami vs richts. Ed o was very detailed and informative of what Maimi had personnel wise and what kind of game planning and schemes they show

They needed to fit (don't need 3 kickers and 2 LBs)
So tired of this perpetual lie about only having 2 LBs.
quote:
Ed Orgeron and Dave Aranda were on a recruiting trip late last fall when LSU’s defensive coordinator turned to the head coach. “Do you know,” he started, “that we have more kickers on scholarship than inside linebackers?”
We had 9 total LBs at the time. FYI.

Say what you want about Orgeron, but I don’t think you’d ever see Les Miles chew the hell out of his punt team for not being ready when you’re already up big like O did on Sunday.

Why is there this new trend of trying to tear down Les to prop up 0?

Definitely agree with you. I thought the hire was terrible and some decisions he has made has left me scratching my head such as the Troy fiasco and the failure to go for it against ND in the Bowl game. However I am a Tiger fan through and through and as the old saying goes, "Just Keep Winning Baby or in this case BEBe.

Surely you can be objective enough to say that Gus gave that game away with stupid decisions. LSU absolutely took advantage (ETA And I've given 0 a lot of credit for keeping the players' heads in that game to be able to take advantage), but it took a miracle to win that game. It was also not on the road. Let's see if you can actually be objective.

Are you saying before the game you felt one way about Orgeron, and after the game you feel another way?
That's a lot of weight you're giving to one game. And I'll say again, Orgeron is 5-0 in season openers. Starting the season off right has been the norm for him, ironically enough.

It was a very good win that all LSU fans should appreciate. Coach O, his staff, and the LSU football players did LSU proud.
We really won’t know the significance of this win until we play a handful of more games, but my Wednesday morning looks a hell of a lot better being ranked 11th in the nation as opposed to 25th no matter whether rankings mean anything at this time or not.
I’m a just win type a guy and we did. Right now, LSU football has done everything I could’ve asked of them to this point in a 2018 season.
