My worst fears about Ed Orgeron seem baseless now

I was against the hire, because I thought Orgeron would not have the bandwidth to keep all of the processes running. I figured he would be reactive - rushing in to fix one problem while three others fester. This has not proved to be the case.

He has shored up every obvious problem we had. The game preparation has seemed solid both last season and last week. Recruiting has been very good. Some will point to the low ranking last year, but I think that was due to the arbitrary nature of the rankings - they just did not rank Louisiana kids high last year. We'll see if they're right. And he is pulling in a highly ranked class this year.

Offense, defense and special teams all looked well prepared. When was the last time that happened?

This guy might make it to a second contract as LSU coach. I would have bet heavily against that.

I still think the decision to hire him was bad, but Aleva might be getting lucky, and so might we.

Too soon to say anything about another contract. A very difficult schedule ahead and the fans react to wins and losses like the direction of the wind. I like his enthusiasm for the program. I prefer to take in the season without to many unrealistic expectations and then judge his coaching.

it's still early, but the team looks well coached at this time. a lot of problems have been addressed successfully.

Or perhaps instead of luck, rantards just really weren’t qualified In coach hiring Process?
Just a thought.

O and staff should be ranked in top 3 when we beat AU on road in 2 weeks.

it is not what we think about the hire of CEO - that's over

it is now about the job he does and the team he puts on the field

As of now, his decision making has paid dividends. Recruiting/signing more OL and DL. The transfers were a home run, the juco o-linemen are working out so far and special teams hasn't looked that good in a long time. We'll see as the year goes on.

Yes we should have all had faith in Alleva due to his history of good decision making.

Biggest thing regarding recruiting, was that he addressed our needs. Maybe not so much at RB but he did not just try to get the best guys. They needed to fit (don't need 3 kickers and 2 LBs). Hope he succeeds because I hate seeing us fail

Coaching hires are crap shoots. Look at Herman. He's 7-7. Fedora is considered a bright offensive mind but his team was crap last year and he is a PR nightmare. The Dabo hire was widely panned initially and he had losing season in his second full year.
The Sabans and Meyers are few and far between. Has USC been great since Carrol left? Jeremey Foley was considered one of the finest ADs in the country and all of UF's team save women's hoop are successful, yet he whiffed on 3 of 4 head football hires and had little to do with getting Meyer to UF.

Who would you take?

Ask this before the Miami game I bet I know who alot of our fans would have taken and it would not have been

I have fallen into this trap before after a non conference win to start the season but I am going to see what happens at Auburn. Road game against a very good top 10 team will tell us where we are at. I am very excited about the win but I have a feeling Auburn could blow us out. Hope I'm wrong.

When did that end because all I heard this off-season was “worst coach in Ole Miss history”. Never mind that it means absolutely nothing today nor did it mean anything this off-season.

It appears that "Ree" was a more responsible messenger than any of the "nega-attackers".

My thoughts if we go into Auburn and play good and we lose so be it. Problem here with our fanbase is that if we lose we will have fans say Ed O sucks blah blah blah. I think this team is good and can be great but going into Auburn will be tough. I think Burrows will get better and better so I think we give them a hell of a game. I think turnovers will be the difference in that game.
