It will be okay Madking. Can’t wait for next basketball season with our new coach. We can all get along then

So you’re admitting pretending to be a McMahon fan simply because you have WWDS. Well at least you’ve admitted it.

Tell her to shut up and go make you a sandwich.

Well *thats* a tradition of excellence, lol.
How many Final Fours does he have? How about natties?
LSU can and should go get a winner, not some standard bearer for “decent”.

Sounds great. Who are you suggesting LSU get that fits that criteria?

I don't know you, live in VA, so probably will never meet you, but I would bet you a significant amount of money that you couldn't find 20 HC in the HISTORY of college basketball with a better resume' than Wade in his first 12 years as a HC, and by age 43.
Now I get that you really hate basketball and are rooting for the program to keep sucking hind tit.
Most likely because your precious minor sport baseball would be threatened by having hoops rolling again. Or it could be the racial makeup of the sport. Or both reasons.
What I don't get is why you regularly post in the basketball threads when you hate it so much.

I could pose the same question about Bill Self, Bruce Pearl, Kelvin Samson and dozens of other well regarded coaches at the age of 43 with as many or more seasons coached - and the answer would be the same.
And of the 3 I mentioned above particularly at the same age - I could make a very good argument for WW being more accomplished at that age than any of the 3 coaches I mentioned above at that age. And I will if you'd like?

The baseball only bros are hilarious with their hypocrisy. WW at 43 hasn’t won a NC. I wonder what could be said about Skip Bertman and Jay Johnson at the age of 43, since neither had won a NC by that age in a much less competitive sport nationally. Skip was 52 in 1991 and Jay was 45 3 years ago.

I get it Drizz. They are scared TO DEATH that men's basketball will be resurrected and relegate baseball to 3rd in the pecking order at LSU, where it is at every other power 4 school in the country.
Also, notice all the where's Zipper threads, and McKinnon is awesome threads. Don't discount the race thing either.

I am a fan of all LSU sports and I want them all to win and I think they all can win, and should strive for that.
But it's been my experience over the last 30 years that there all a small but dedicated and passionate group of fans who as you say are baseball only. And they are not friends of the other programs, even football.

Again showing you have no idea what you’re talking about. Basketball is not football, I would’ve thought that much would be obvious.

Every time a thread about Wade pops up you always have someone (often several someones) who say "LSU could do better". Yet, they NEVER identify who that "better" coach is. Are there HCs throughout the country who are more accomplished than Wade? Absolutely. But that is not the discussion. The discussion is would any of those HCs leave their current job to take the LSU job? The answer, to a high degree of certainty, is no.
LSU's task is to try to find the best HC who will take the LSU job. LSU's is not going to offer a $7M, $8M, $9M (annually) contract to a basketball coach. Hell, the "we are a baseball school" fans would stage an anti-ICE style protest on Dalrymple Dr. if that happened. So the question is who is the best HC who will ALSO strongly consider taking the LSU job? Under that criteria I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone with a better resume than Wade. Particularly given he would be the ONLY candidate who could say he's actually had success at LSU.
That is NOT to say Wade is the only HC who could win at LSU, or that there isn't someone else out there who could lead LSU to great heights. But anyone else (realistically) would be more of an uncertainty. It's possible LSU would hit on the next Todd Golden...but it is equally as possible they fail with the next Matt McMahon. One only has to look at the blind resumes of both of those coaches 4 years ago to illustrate the uncertainty in coaching hires. If you took the names off, compared both resumes, and said "one of these guys will win a NC within 3 years, while the other will have the worst conference record (cumulatively) for the next 4 seasons" McMahon would have had the more favorable opinion.

What’s sad and telling to me is those “fans” are happy to dismiss and bash the success LSU had as a program during that time just to make negative and juvenile remarks about Wade. It’s filtered down into narratives about Tremont Waters being overrated, Naz Reid being a bum, Cam Thomas being dogshit and the 4 straight NCAA tourney seasons being talked about like they were losing years. These aren’t LSU fans

They will laugh at the thought of WW being compared to this or that coach and scoff at it as if it's ridiculous.
Then when you put their resume's side by side at the same stage of their careers or ages - inevitable WW's resume is as good or better. I've done it here before with Self and WW's resume is not only arguable more accomplished, I think the argument is much easier to make that WW's is more accomplished.
And I could do the same several other coaches of renown that the less informed would scoff at a comparison being made.

People may be shocked at this but it's true.
Coach K won his first title in year 12. This is year 12 for Wade.
If you compared the 2 coaches resume' after 11 years, Wade has the better one.
Now obviously, Wade would have to go on an incredible 30 year run to match K which is almost impossible, but the point is, Wade has been DAMNED GOOD throughout his career no matter what the good ole boys on this board claim.
He would be an absolute home run hire if we could get him back. Look at what he's doing in Raleigh ONCE AGAIN. He wins big wherever he goes, and quickly. Every true Tiger fan should hope for this.

I've said many times that this is all driven by agenda based hyperbole, vs. fact based logic. Contrary to what some have suggested, Wade was NOT the best young coach in the country when he was at LSU. He wasn't even the best HC in the SEC (maybe not even in the top 4-5). However, he was by no means "bad" at LSU. In fact, he was the most consistent winner at LSU in decades. It's the hyperbole in one direction that leads to a hyperbolic response.
To borrow from a local radio show, I see Wade as a guy who is good with a chance to be great. As an LSU fan I will take that because LSU is very unlikely to hire a HC with Final Four or championship bona-fides. Just about any other hire would be a guy who is unproven at this level with just the hope to be good.
The irony is if Wade's name was Bill Smith and he never coached at LSU the same fans who seemingly hate the idea of his return would be screaming from the rafters for LSU to hire him based upon his success at McNeese. (Hopefully) LSU will be in the market for a new HC next month. You'll hear the pie-in-the sky unrealistic names. But you'll also see fans touting this mid-major HC, or that mid-major HC, NONE of whom will have a resume even close to Wade's
If I'm the AD I try (within reason) to re-hire Wade because I know he will, at minimum, have LSU competing in at least the top 1/2 of the SEC. I also know he will immediately inject life/interest into a program that hasn't had any for four miserable years. If the efforts fail, so be it. You pivot to someone else. But to totally forego the effort simply out of spite would be ridiculous.

Nick Saban coached 54 games at LSU. After 54 games as LSU coach Ed Orgeron had the same number of wins as did Saban
