I love the WWII vet stories. My granddad served on a supply ship in the Pacific. He sailed under the Golden Gate, through much of the Pacific theater, and his was the first to dock in Hiroshima after the bomb dropped. He and other crew mates where some of the 1st Americans to drive around and view the damage.

Thanks for sharing and Mr. Thomas for his tremendous service to this country in such a sifficult time. They dont make many like your grandfather any more, but Im sure you already know that!!!

Thanks for posting that link with the video and audio. I'm going to send that link to my grandpa so he can see it. It's great to see it from the moment he walked out to his salute.

ETA: you need to get a copy of that video to keep...it will be a family treasure one day.
