Truly, a generation of badasses. Congrats to him on being honored. That's pretty cool.

I hope today was truly a day to remember for you and your grandpa. Please tell him how much we appreciate what he did for this country.

One answer. Libturds! They're all government leaching, useless bums.

To the OP: a big salute to your grandfather! Yes, one of the best generations of all time. God Bless him and God Bless America! The greatest country in the world!!

Contrary to the two idiots who downvoted this thread, you should be proud of your Grandpa and his service.

Give him a big thank you from this retired Air Force E-8.

If any of you are going out to the box today, my grandpa William Thomas, will be honored as part of the salute the soldiers campaign. He is 94 and served in the pacific. He was in the army and loaded bombs on planes. Anyway, this is his first time to the box so it should be a great day. Proud of my grandpa. Geaux Tigers. See y'all in a few hours.

Would have been worth admission just to salute your grandpa, I'm sure he had a helluva time at the Box.

I wish I'd known. I'd have taken my Dad. Turned 90 in November, still going strong. For those who have Dads or other relatives that served, do yourself and them a favor and go to the WWII Museum in New Orleans together. What a great perspective my boys and I got from someone that lived through it. And he was Navy Pacific fleet and his brother a Col in the Army in Europe. Maybe the most memorable day I've ever had with him.

Every generation is a little more pussified than the previous. My dad would have crushed me and never thought twice about it. No "time out" in the corner for me back in the day.

I love WWII vets. They were truly the greatest generation.

Great people. I went to the WWII memorial in DC and saw a couple vets sitting there taking in the scene. They were so proud and happy to have the biggest and best memorial of any war. I told them they earned it and that it was long overdue, and thanked them for what they did. I got choked up seeing that these regular guys pulled off something incredible and got to live to see the recognition for it.

Thanks vets, of all wars.

Recently took my son to meet a member of the Marine 2nd Division. Decorated Marine with action at Guadalcanal and landings at Tarawa, Saipan and Tinian. I knew him as a young lad growing up. Awesome man and awesome generation.

Thank your Grandad for his service for me please. God bless.
