Not surprised by this one bit. I told people when she came back home that she wouldn’t be at LSU very long. Family is the number 1 thing for her. She is not a lifer like other coaches are

Good then we don’t have to hear her gripe about a new arena and money.

‘Dirty Debutantes’ Article About LSU Women’s Basketball

ByShaun Harper

Mar 31, 2024 at 05:55pm EDTApr 07, 2024 at 02:28pm EDT
Forbes
quote:

On the eve of their Sweet 16 matchup in the 2024 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament, Ben Bolch, a Los Angeles Times staff writer, called the UCLA Bruins “America’s sweethearts” and the LSU Tigers “basketball villains.”

quote:

The third emphasis of Bolch’s article is the one that’s garnering the most attention. This is where in the original version he referred to the players as “dirty debutantes.”

He also accused the Tigers of being divisive and America’s most polarizing team. He offered this juxtaposition of them and UCLA: “Do you prefer the team that wants to grow women’s basketball or the one seemingly hellbent on dividing it?” His was a good vs. evil comparison.

Is this retirement news another attempt by UCLA to add a distraction to a possible matchup against LSU?

Remember, Ben Bolch, a Los Angeles Times staff writer that attacked LSU previously is best buds with the UCLA coach.

Let’s see how this heats up if they play each other.

I mean, if you can’t get past Dawn, might as well hang it up.

That's why i know the OP is trolling.
Kim is as loyal of a person that you will ever meet.
I think she has a 10 year contract. She will definitely be here those 10 years and likely years beyond that contract.

Incorrect. It was either 5 or 7 years, but it definitely was not 10 years.

People are taking shite and running with it like crazy on here today

What’s wrong with giving Kim Mulkey a huge contract?

Woodward is the king of horrible contracts but he didn’t miss on this one at least

If I had to guess, she's probably tired of the NIL grind. Similar to Saban's exit.

The only thing is could have to do with Wade is that they are diverting some of her dollars to Men’s basketball.

Which makes sense to invest in a profitable product vs a net loss.

No one should get a 10 year contract.

Particularly in a sport that loses $7 million a year

Its the single biggest money pit sport at LSU. Loses money to the tune of $8m/year.

It's always going to be a lose money sport. IT's only going to be a lose more money sport now.

She gripes about everything. As someone who only casually follows women's basketball at LSU, I can say she's a bit of a pain in the arse to listen to because she almost never has anything positive and ONLY positive things to say. Just seems like she's always slipping in something to bitch about. That's gotten old.

Football and men’s bball are the only profit turners. The great teams and championship are worth every penny they’ve paid Mulkey. The publicity they bring is worth way more than they spend.
