Good for you on trying to stay objective.

Just understand, somebody's pulling strings to try and get Mulkey removed. It's not political (Dem vs GOP), it's coming from within the Women's Basketball power structure.

The first attacks painted Mulkey as MAGA, tried to align her with Trump. If you look at JUST that, you could guess it's political... but there's more.

The current attack is "she didn't have her team out to stand for the national anthem". That's anti-MAGA, an attempt to make her look like an "America-hating leftist".

In both cases, the attacks are pointless garbage. She's a coach, and a very successful one. She's trying to win, and to teach her players to be successful in life.
The earlier criticisms were that she didn't vocally support Griner, who had played for her at Baylor. Well, Griner went to another country with strong laws, and broke them. Mulkey could wish her player well and hope for her release, but she can't endorse that behavior... for their own safety. You don't say it's ok to go to Russia, of all places, and break laws. Griner is lucky to be alive.

On a similar note, Mulkey was attacked for telling lesbian players at Baylor to keep a low profile (supposedly). I knew people who transferred to Baylor after Hurricane Katrina, from Tulane. Also know a girl who got her doctorate there. Everyone said Baylor, a Baptist school, was a bit repressive and strict. Even the "Louisiana-style" drinking and partying was heavily frowned on, they were all glad when they left.
IF that's the case (and I heard about this from multiple people long before this controversy), then it's simple common sense and self-preservation what Mulkey told her players. Don't put a target on your back, keep your head down and get through. Be who you are, but don't invite a firestorm for no reason.
I think most of us parents would teach our kids the same damn thing- don't go looking for trouble.

As for the anthem thing: in MOST sports teams are in the locker room during the anthem. It's that way in football, including the bowls I've been to. Let's remember, the anthem is played before the broadcast starts, so if you see teams come out live, that's after the anthem.

SOMEONE is attacking her.

And to clarify, it isn't the "liberal media", OR the "brain-dead governor". Both of those sides are just being played.

I mean, pay attention to this. Last week, Mulkey was horrible because she was "MAGA". This week, it's because "she hates America".
She's been compared to both Trump and Kaepernick, in less than a month.

I'm curious what comes next if we don't fire her. Will she be considered an extremist Christian (tie her to Westboro Baptist), or a Satanist? Maybe both? Because it's clear SOMEONE is slinging every bit of shite against her, in the hopes something sticks.

Somebody is trying DAMN hard to take her down, and that reeks of fear. And the only reason I can think of anyone to fear her, is that she would take their spot.

I don't remember Geno Auriemma attacking her (or others) when UConn got passed up. So my guess is, it's Dawn Staley at South Carolina (and her circle of supporters). She's the current queen of WBB. The funny thing is, SC is still able to beat LSU on the court, so it seems like fear of open competition.

Depends... If you want to critisize her coaching... Fine. Who gaurded who, and how she subs, and who she starts, of leaves in with 4 fouls...

What needs to end is all of this manufactured crap about "drama" and her political or social views, and this noise about the national antham, and her relationship with her father... She is paid to coach, and honestly, even is I knew what her political views were, because she clearly has avoided the subject, I still wouldn't care. She is paid to coach, and to win. Clearly she has done so...

I don't know why coach Mulkey didn't put Poa on Clark from the start. Hailey is very weak on defense. Last year when they beat Iowa Poa guarded Clark and took care of her big time. One thing I do know is you never put your weakest defensive guard on Clark.

Post didn’t age well for us, unfortunately for most of us it will be only be about the wins now.
No attraction necessary I guess.

lol. Poa was on Clark far less than HVL, gave up 3 of Clark’s threes, and got burned on a drive with an and-1. Per minute, she got cooked far worse than Van Lith did.

Yes something that seems to be forgotten. We need a bench that can come in and give a few quality minutes.

I think she looked a little slow and out of shape at times this season. She could stand to lose 6-8 pounds.

Clarke got her 30+ that she would have gotten no matter who guarded her. The 51 given up to the other 4 8th grade rated players is what lost us the game.

The anthem thing: Kim didn't say it, but several reporters said the reason why the LSU team and coaches are not on the court during the natl anthem is not due to a protest or disrespect. It's because THEY DO THEIR PRAYERS as a team during that time (12 minutes before the game starts). LSU's Prez wife is always there with them during their prayers. There were a number of WBB teams in the Tournament who didn't attend the anthem because they did their pre-game routines. LSU's MBB, FB, and most FB teams around the country are not on the field during the anthem. Army and Navy are not out on the field during the anthem. Where is the uproar?

Kim's insistence on trying to make the HVL experiment work was her ultimate downfall.

Flaujae should have guarded Clark. We would have won the game.

Kim Mulkey gets an F for her showing against Iowa.

Calling BS, it’s because of the potential disrespect, everyone knows it, many just refuse to call it out.

ABC ESPN own the women’s tournament it’s all PR and it’s working WELL they wanted a monster villain and so they created one. The devil is ABC ESPN. They are a PR machine that has their hand in everything. Piss on them. It would have been fabulous to win that game Sunday to watch their heads explode. I don’t dislike being the most hated team.
