Believing in a real vaccine may be the greatest display of American gullibility yet.

Move FB to Spring" is the same bait and switch as "Flatten the Curve"
What do you think is the upside, there? Like, aside from the logistical impossibilities of the entire planet colluding to do this (move the goalpost for fake/political reasons), what’s the upside to shut down the entire fricking world, if not for safety? Get rid of trump? Maybe if this was just the US, but even then you’re talking unilateral agreement—and then silence (LOL in the internet era)—among an entire community of scientists and career public servants. I was a scientist in a previous life and I can assure you from experience that while that there are egotistical idiots like in any field the majority of them are nerds that get excited about data and potentially saving some people. Or just getting tenure. They’re not mustache-twirling spooks trying to torpedo the planet’s economy for fun.
Did it ever occur to you that maybe being cautious (even, gasp, overly cautious) is the reasonable thing to do, here, when making decisions based on little historical precedent and limited knowledge about a virus that could have potentially wiped out everyone?
Science is a process, with thousands or millions of iterative steps. The “moving the goalposts” argument alone when talking about a new scientific threat is unbelievably stupid. Doctors used to recommend certain cigarettes lol. Asbestos wasn't initially demonized. Science evolved. Shocking.
You're a polemicist but you're not an idiot, so stop. This shite makes you look smart to morons and an idiot to anyone else. And you're not.

i mean we've never developed a vaccine for any coronavirus
and we've never developed an RNA vaccine suitable for human use
so we think that we're going to create an RNA vaccine for a coronavirus in 6 months? first shot, no issues? look it's possible, but

On November 3, Joe Biden will win the presidency, the Democrats will hold onto the House and will either be 50-50 or have control of the Senate.
When this happens, people will start actually applying science and reason. It will be too late for college football. But by December, the ubiquitous "death tracker" on CNN will be gone. We will stop trying to SHUT IT ALL DOWN and start having people suggest things that the Red State Governors have already been doing, with appropriate modifications for plausible deniability.
I'm not saying COVID is a hoax. And shame on Trump for trying to do so. But COVID is the most insignificant issue to have upended life as we know it as anyone has ever seen. The good news is that, in return for massive new taxes and institutionalized socialism, we will finally have intellectual honesty about managing our way through this virus.

We will be jamming needles in millions of Americans, but it’ll be as useless as saline. GSK and Moderna will be laughing all the way to the bank.

What information to do you guys have? Have you read this and other similar reports?
The record time for a vaccine is 4 years. It’s unrealistic to expect a quarter of the record amount of time it’s taken

the issue is those wielding power have no clue what to do and won't admit it, so they default to "shut down and wait for a vaccine"
and yes, there is a political slant to this belief system (but this is clearly a real virus and not a political situation entirely)
quote:

what virus are you talking about b/c that doesn't describe CV19
quote:

moving the goalposts is a political behavior relying on alleged "science"
the problem is that we don't have science yet, for reasons you stated above. none of this shite has been rigorously tested in a real scientific manner. hell, even the vaccine development is not a normally legitimate process
again, people are wielding power because they're too afraid to admit they don't have a clue what they need to do. this has cost trillions of dollars already and in this specific instance, will kill college athletics. and these decisions are being made as a ruse/lie to manipulate populations (like the "flatten the curve" bait and switch) and that needs to be called out. oh, and if you think that i'm being "polemicist", remember Fauci admitted to lying to us about wearing masks
quote:
He also acknowledged that masks were initially not recommended to the general public so that first responders wouldn’t feel the strain of a shortage of PPE.
their lies are already documented and admitted
*ETA: i'm not saying EVERYTHING is a lie, but the lies fit in with the fact that they have not come up with any alternative to a vaccine

The “experts” have literally been on every side of every issue with this
The CDC and WHO have documented frick ups that radically altered our response. We even had fake anti HCQ studies published!
Frankly, it’s unbelievable to me that anyone fails to acknowledge this.

not to get too political, but it's a "if we tell society we have no clue what we're doing, there will be chaos" situation
so they pretend like they're in control, and get this response from people

No we are not in the 2nd wave yet. This is still the first wave that we almost flattened but didn’t.

In a reply so dripping with condescension and ridicule, why do you bother engaging with the knuckle dragging idiots on this site, except maybe to cast the fertile seed of your wisdom upon barren rocks for your own amusement?

quote:Gasp, uh, why no. I've always thought that being cautious is never reasonable. Thank you for enlightening all of us!
Did it ever occur to you that maybe being cautious (even, gasp, overly cautious) is the reasonable thing to do,

quote:No, not a single organized conspiracy, but everyone has their own self interests, and whether it furthers their career, lines their pockets, benefits them politically, shields them from risk, they are mistaken, misguided, or listening to others who have their own motivations, very little of the current COVID debate is rooted in fact on either side.
They’re not mustache-twirling spooks trying to torpedo the planet’s economy for fun
quote:I know, really, and COVID is just like Asbestos! We won't discover COVID is bad for us until next generation when rare tumors start showing up unexpectedly. Shocking how great a comparison that is!

You know, maybe a stadium full of cheering fans w/face masks & hot, sweating players with helmet masks on , referees blowing out whistle bursts , long lines at the pisser , confessions , the 1000's of tailgaters , traffic jams ,all together may very well lead to the long awaited PURGE .
