"Move FB to Spring" is the same bait and switch as "Flatten the Curve"

This argument that all we have to do is wait a LITTLE longer and things will be fine to resume "normal life" is a bait and switch being used against our fans. The parties who have the ability to cancel football know if it's not safe now, it won't be safe in January (when we'll be dealing with CV19 and the flu and all the other seasonal illnesses present in winter). Ignoring any logistical issues that come by moving the schedules, you simply won't have a scenario in Jan 2021 that is any different than August 2020.
This is all a ruse to promise you that they just need a little help and things will be fine after, just like the original "flatten the curve" argument. Sure, almost everyone agreed we needed to help ensure hospitals weren't overrun and we could secure PPE and potential treatment options over a short period of time and then resume normalcy. After that happened, we were all gaslighted and told that "flatten the curve" means "total elimination of CV19 until a vaccine is found" and the original meaning didn't happen.

Then it will be, move football to 2022
Then everyone must get vaccinated to play football 2023
Democrats and their goalposts

Move football to the spring crowd is literally illogical.
Muh player safety.
Playing 2 full football seasons in 1 year would cause so many more player injuries than covid would ever accomplish.

Why do you say this? There seem to be strong prospects of a vaccine by late fall/early winter. Assuming this happens, it seems to me that things will be materially different in February than in September.

this is simply not true
it would be great, but it's not true

Assuming this happens
can we assume that CV just mysteriously disappears tomorrow as well? they both have the same near-0 chance of occurring

i think a full implementation of a vaccine will take 6 months, so no, even with a vaccine, this is wrong

With the draft and presumably a 2nd season starting next September, I don't see how moving the 2020 season to the Spring is logistically possible.
I'd rather they cancel 1 season than alter all future seasons.

2 weeks to slow the spread!

Once the vaccine gets here and it still doesn’t stop the spread (just like the flu vaccine doesn’t) then it’ll be some other BS.

You're saying it's simply not true that we have "strong prospects" of a vaccine by early winter? I assume you know that this has been widely reported by people in government, academia, and medicine. What is your support for the proposition that these reports are incorrect? There are currently 8 drugs in phase 3 and one approved for limited use.

It’s just another coordinated tactic to make covid linger past the presidential election. The sooner we start behaving normally, the sooner everyone realizes that this overreaction to covid was pointless.
When they started going to conference only schedules, the justification of limiting travel made zero sense to me. Now, I understand. Simple majority conference vote and the whole conference is done. This was the plan all along.

There won’t be a real vaccine. There will be something that will make big pharma billions, but it won’t stop this virus.

Why would Democrats want football cancelled. That's just stupid

What information to do you guys have? Have you read this and other similar reports?
I'm not trying to argue. I'm just trying understand where you're getting 4 years, or why you say there is a "near 0" percent chance of a vaccine by the end of the year.

Here is one: Moderna's clinical trial numbers show there's 'no way' Trump can have a vaccine by Election Day
quote:
"There's no way. There's just no way," said Dr. Peter Hotez, a vaccinologist at Baylor College of Medicine and a CNN medical analyst.
Last week President Trump said he was "optimistic" a vaccine would be ready around Election Day on November 3.
quote:
CNN obtained part of an email Moderna sent on Friday to the principal investigators of its vaccine trials. It says 4,536 study subjects have enrolled in the trials.
The trial started the morning of July 27 and intends to enroll 30,000 study subjects. The company has said it's "on track to complete enrollment in September."
they're not even going to have the number of participants enrolled until some time in September
that's the vaccine that's the farthest along

They don’t want normalcy. They don’t want any distraction from the pandemic leading up to the election.
They want people irritated, anxious, and angry come November

Second wave expected in Dec-Feb. Will actually be worse then. Football isn’t coming back until there is a vaccine, I’m afraid.

did you read your own link?
quote:
The Department of Defense and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention would work together to distribute a vaccine to Americans in phases. Government committees will determine who needs the vaccine first, Fauci said. That will likely include essential workers and people at greater risk.
even if this magical timeline did happen, it will take months to distribute the vaccine itself. if we had it today, it wouldn't be completed prior to winter
