Didn’t say how long it’s been, but it’s been for at least 2 practices. I thought that was interesting. Lots of other interesting tidbits on the latest AYS episode that I can’t recall right now. I’ll try to add some more if I can remember, but that stood out to me as interesting.

I know we have an all American in Green but I really think he’s going to command a lot of attention and whoever our TE2 is will have a real nice season. Lanes offense schemes wide open TEs all the time (ask LSU fans how we know).

Mothershed could be a huge weapon there instead of WR6 or whatever. I think we’re going to run more 12 (and 13) personnel than we’ve run since Les Miles.

I heard LaFleur was out of practice today. I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

I doubt it. It sounded like he’d been there for a few days at least. And Mothershed is a TE like Trey’Dez is a TE. I don’t think he’s gonna be asked to line up next to the tackle and block edges all that much. I read it like the offense is being designed around Trey’Dez in as much as Lane has probably designed his offense around one player. So I’m speaking relatively.

And Mothershed, while he’s no Dez, is the closest thing we’ve got to him. And he’s talented, but doesn’t fit the versatile mold of the top 4-5 WRs that seem to be getting the most run so far. So this could be a way to 1) spell Dez throughout games and the season to keep him fresh and ready through a grueling season for a hopeful playoff run, 2) take advantage of Mothershed’s own unique talent and not waste him on the bench, and 3) God forbid and knock on wood, if Trey’Dez goes down an has to miss a half or a game, it wouldn’t completely change the offense.

I think LaFleur is a more traditional TE, but is probably another year away from really competing to start there, barring injury. Granted, I haven’t heard or read all of the practice reports, but I don’t think I’ve heard him mentioned yet as having done anything. Whenever they talk about TEs, it’s always Green and some other dude whose name escapes me. I’m assuming he’s the more traditional TE who would be out there in 12 personnel when we run it.

But like I said, I haven’t heard or read everything at all.

I can’t remember what show it was on—either OTB or AFR—but they had a former LSU TE on—pretty sure it was Colin Jeter—and they were talking about that and he said basically it doesn’t really matter how much attention Green gets. That he turns 50/50 balls into 90/10s. He was higher on Tre’Dez than most everybody already is. I wanna say he said he thought he could be the biggest weapon in CFB in the last several years. I don’t know what his current gig is, but Jeter sounded like he’d seen this up close recently, so maybe he works for LSU in some capacity.

They also talked about how Leavett’s scrambling, and abilities to keep plays alive and throw off platform was going to lead to “broken play” touchdowns to Trey where trusts him to just throw it up and go get it. Said they remember Jayden saying something about that same dynamic with Malik when asked and saying something like “Malik’s down there somewhere, so I just let it go.” Hopefully Sam and Trey are developing a similar trust.

No doubt. Sounds like he’d have been pretty much wasted at WR with the way things seem to be shaking out there. Nice way to incorporate him.

Probably, but, unless I am misinterpreting this, I think this makes Mothershed Trey’Dez’s backup, not necessarily TE2. That will be a more traditional TE, and that’s where I think we’ll see more 12 personnel run with those 2. But I’m sure there will be some packages that utilize Mothershed and Trey together some too. I’d think inside the red zone for sure.

Natural backup to Trey'Dez with his size. I dont see Trey'Dez putting his hand on the ground much this season, much like Mothershed wouldn't at TE.

The other TEs are more guys who can put their hand down and do the dirty work there

Needs to add a ton of weight. Imagine being told you need to add 20-40lbs, while working out and having an insane metabolism. Eating will be his primary job.

5AM have a 1000cal smoothie
10AM 2 omelets
12-1PM 2k cal meal
3 PM 700k cal shake
Dinner-2K meal
Team meeting at night. Have a bucket of popeyes
Midnight- have 3 PBJ sandwiches with milk

That schedule would be insane
