Jacque Jones
I think he was a Freshman and hit 3 or 4 home runs in one game. LSU crowd showed their appreciation for what he did.

Losing to USC twice in a row at the 98 CWS to keep us from trying for the 3-peat still hurts. I seriously doubt that rare air chance will ever come again.
One of my most painful memories as a Tiger fan. That was a great LSU team that should have won it all, but the baseball weather gods thought otherwise.

Jones hit 3 in the championship game. The wind was gusting out and it was basically a homerun derby. Walker hit 2 and I think someone else hit 2 for USC.

Gonna say UCI in 08. Just lost my mom. I was listening to the game right when the comeback started.

When we lost to ULL in the '13 regional

All of the "woooooop woooooooos" and sexuality challenges from the LF Lunatics. Damn ragarms coming in were done before they hit the mound.

you talking about these right field bleachers?
Yes.

Jacques Jones played LF for U$C that regional.
No, he didn't. I was sitting 80 feet from him when he took his position in right field. And I was in the first row of the right field bleachers.

When Cody Glenn got suspended 5 minutes before the 2013 regionals

while I wasn't alive for it saw it on WAFB and the 89 regional over aTm is probably the greatest regional in Tiger Baseball History.
I think I forget about most of the others because we usually coast through the regionals with no issues.

quote:It was a tough pill to swallow. We had Morris' walk off miracle in 96, then we bludgeoned Bama to win it all again in 97. We roll to 2-0 in the 98 CWS, and even after USC beats us the first game from the losers' bracket, Doug Thompson comes in the second game when it's still close, and I'm thinking, he's gonna shut 'em down like he did against Bama the year before. I was genuinely shocked when we were eliminated, and like I said, when will that chance ever come again?

Beating those frickers (and Mark Prior

And in the 2nd game against USC, first game after they came back through the loser's bracket, Josh Dalton lined a homerun early in the game and it looked like we were going to keep rolling. Then we were pretty much shut down.
ESPN was interviewing Cresse's dad live when he hit a HR against Mississippi State in our second game.

Yeah, in the first game of the CWS USC put up a good fight but we just gorilla-balled 'em to death. MSU gave us a really good fight next, but we still prevailed.
In the next two games against USC from the losers' bracket, we hit a ton of balls that looked like they'd go yard, but ended up just being long warning-track outs.

When Cody Glenn showed up at halftime of the Regional Championship Game and LSU made it to Super Regionals.

Yeah the wind shifted and the weather cooled for those two games. Then it went back to normal Saturday for the title game and USC won 21-14...which helped the first round of bat changes come about.

quote:Yep. Had we had the championship game weather we would've beat USC, and almost surely ASU for the title and 3-peat. And yes, that 21-14 game began the bat "adjustment"changes that ultimately resulted in the lame bats we have today.

Is there a web site with all the regional scores in BR from the last 30 years? I'm interested to see how many times LSU was forced to win 2 in a row to advance and did it
Posted on 5/30/13 at 11:16 pm to LSULyle00690
the media guide has all of that

Just off the top of my head I know LSU had to come out of the losers bracket 5 times in regionals.
1990: beat USC twice
1993: beat South Alabama twice
1997: beat South Alabama twice
1999: beat East Carolina twice
2002: beat ULL twice
Twice in super regionals
2003: beat Baylor twice
2008: beat UCI twice
