but let’s not act like DJ Thomas and Reed weren’t 30% of that and haven’t played half the season. The roster playing in the sec is $5ish. No miller, the one in the tourney is $4 mil

If 29% of that 30% wasn't solely for Thomas, then LSU grossly overpaid for Reed. I doubt the market for an inconsistent below the rim big coming off a serious knee injury was very robust. Then again, he was a hypothetical All-SEC player in McMahon's hypothetical winning program.

Oats is a shithead but he can coach. They also play in a dumpster that makes the pmac look like the intuit dome.

This year he leveled up to hypothetical All-American.

Looking at this graphic, seems like there’s a pretty good correlation with winning and spending money. The lowest spenders are largely at the bottom of the standings and vice versa

No matter what boxtards want to believe, baseball has a limited ceiling, you can pour all the resources you want into it, it’s not going to be a big money maker
Self proclaimed boxtard here, can you explain how the $3Mil in revenue share for basketball contributed to ROI this season? Assume they had $0 in revenue share, and lost every SEC game, would they make less money?

Unless I’ve been living under a rock and LSU gets paid over $1Mil for each SEC win, then the $3Mil they received in revenue share is a negative ROI.

At least us boxtards buy beer and concessions at the 35+ home games.

Its not per win, it’s mostly tv money.

So if LSU is going to be arse at basketball, why not shift some of the revenue share money from men’s basketball to baseball?

Let's try and break it down:

-We know Dedan was somwhere around 2 mill
-The rumor was Indiana offered Robert miller 800k, and we kept him
-Nwoko was an SEC starter that we poached, gotta imagine he is at least around the 800k mark.
-Let's say a 1.5 million for Sutton,Reed,Max,Thamba

So that is ~5 million right there. Another million for the rest of the group? What do we think?

yea there is no way we gave Reed a boat load of money, or we are poorly ran.

McMahon himself said he wasn't expecting Reed to even be back on the court until Late Dec. IF we were relying on him being a starter than that is terrible roster management.

You're right. The only exception is Alabama. Oats has finished no lower than 5th the past few seasons. 2022 was the last time he finished below 5th (finished 8th). He's never finished near dead last. He always has his squad at the very top or near the top in the SEC standings. Going by this list, it's the best bang for your buck roster.

In the preseason you had some saying $8M - $10M. I had people close to donors SCREAMING in Nov the roster was $10M....by about 5:00 pm today you'll hear the excuse makers and those who watched roughly 4 basketball games this year telling you the actual number was closer to $4M.

NIL numbers are TOTAL conjecture. Yet, for a portion of the LSU fanbase the amount fluctuates like a stock. Somehow, the value of NIL tends to go down as the losses go up.

The fact is no amount of money was going to fix McMahon because McMahon can't fix himself. He is who he is. A mid major coach who doesn't belong in the big leagues.

Kentucky sure didn’t get their money’s worth.

Our number is more competitive than I thought it would be. I don’t see how we can use that as an excuse.

Why is this constantly repeated in here? You guys do realize revenue share and NIL is separate, right? You do also realize baseball draws losses per year? LSU is one of the few that sometimes is profitable but lately it has been bigger loses per year. Adding more revenue share is not going to change anything for baseball. They already have probably a top 3 budget in the country. Budget is not why LSU's team looks bad right now.

Even if this is accurate, which it's not, we finished a whole *checks notes* 2 spots lower in the SEC rankings than we should have by cost of talent.

How are you not getting this?

Concessions and ticket sales is not where the real money comes from anymore.

college baseball will never grow enough to get huge TV money. We enjoy it because we're good at it but it's never going to be a big national draw so the biggest revenue driver has a hard cap on it.
