Moscona w/ Interesting Take: Brennan Most Likely QB to Start AND Most Likely to Transfer

Our QB room is stacked. Brennan was NOT the issue with our team last year when he played. He was somewhat underwhelming in his 1st start but in hindsight played pretty well. He played really well after that until the injury.
Obviously Max played extremely well to end the year plus brings mobility into the equation at the QB spot. He also made it clear that he is a gamer and seems to step up in crucial moments of the game.
To be fair, TJ also played well given he true FR status. I believe he still has the highest ceiling but just needs to develop. IMO, comparing TJ and Max as true freshman really isn’t fair bc Max having an NFL QB father has been prepped for this stage since he could walk.
Obviously Nuss (and Howard) comes from a similar mold as Max in addition to having all the physical skills necessary.
Brennan has the most experience, is the most developed, and has very good skills/talent but if his desire is to play 2 more years of college ball then LSU may not be the place for him

So he feels like most logical people do?
If Brennan doesn’t find an ounce of pocket presence then Johnson ends up taking the starting role over by the end of the year?

To be fair, go back and watch the Mizzou game and tell me Brennan doesn’t have pocket awareness. I feel like Max’s pocket awareness is on a completely different level, but Brennan’s a gamer too. There’s a play during Mizzou where Brennan spins out of pressure rolls right and fires a sideline strike that was flawless. So, I’m happy whoever starts. We’re in a good spot. Rooting for Brennan though.

I agree with Matt. If Brennan doesn’t get the starting job then he is the most likely to transfer because he likely won’t want to sit behind someone who has MORE eligibility remaining that him. The window for him to start again would be closed (for the most part)
FWIW, I think he does start the season. But I can’t say that with 100% confidence. I don’t think O is going to forget that Johnson essentially salvaged what was left of the season last year AND he is the only QB on the roster with the ability to run a bit. That undoubtedly made a big impression on O

To be honest, I Hope Brennan is healthy and the clear cut starter, that means he is ready to ball out and will enter draft after this season, But also agree that if he does not start, he ends up transferring, cant blame him! but we finally have a good QB room with some depth, so I just want what's best for LSU

Where does he say all this?

Someone will hit the portal before spring ball is over.

Brennan is not why we lost games. He scored more than enough points to win the games we lost. The D was horrible when he played. The D was a little better the 2nd half of the season.

If Brennan can’t show he can run in the RPO he won’t be the QB for long. This offense needs a running Qb threat to be Uber successful. Even if it’s only a couple of times a game, he has to show he can pull it in and gain a few yards.

For the one thousandth time.. QB doesn’t run in an RPO

I think that's almost a guarantee. It's crazy that we've gotten to the point that we are likely to lose a solid QB prospect because our QB room has so much talent.

Yeah, Brennan looked great all around in the Mizzou game.

I think it will be Finley. He’s 3rd on the depth chart right now, and could be passed up by Nuss, if the kid is as good as advertised. Finley has terrific athletic ability but he struggled to read opposing defenses. That said, he’s young and can definitely improve in that department. Unless Brennan is so rusty that he struggles in the spring, I don’t see him going anywhere and Johnson has already proven that he’s a leader.

Now, what if Max wins the job and both Brennan and TJ transfer? Bad LSU fan points for me...

Y'all pulling this mess out of your azz or what?
Brennan ain't going nowhere. You think he sat behind JB all that time just to bolt at the first sign of trouble?

The way Max played the last 2 games, why was he not playing early ???

I think Brennan is too slow on his decisions and because of that, gets sacked more than he should, and results in late thrown balls quite a bit.
He's a good kid and loyal as hell, but he's not our best choice at QB.
I say roll with Max and give the true freshmen a shot as well.
May be in the best interest of everyone for him to look into a transfer.

This is exactly what I see happening. If its Max who wins the job, I see both Brennan and TJ transferring, even knowing they could be one play away from being the QB, I don't see either one sticking around.

I keep hearing he has the highest ceiling, some kids just can't or won't touch it.
