Moscona feels LSU's Oline didn't defend Burrow enough, when Joe got hit out of bounds

On 104.5 just now, Moscona was very irate about the late hit on Joe Burrow, he's right in one regard, that it was a cheap shot way out of bounds by an Ole Miss player intent on hurting LSU's Heisman QB. Moscona wished that LSU's Oline had done more to defend Burrow when it happened. But if an O-lineman had punched the player, he would have gotten ejected and Joe would have been down another lineman and less protected in the pocket. My suggestion, punch the Ole Miss player seconds before the game ended!

I thought it showed a lot of discipline actually.

If they had retaliated, it would have been off setting penalties. That means we would have lost the 15 yard gift and risked a player on a depleted OL getting ejected.

Moscona is saying this to rile people up. He can't honestly be dumb enough to have wanted that to happen.

You shouldn't throw a punch, but ex-OL players at that level would probably tell you they were too passive.

You can say it showed discipline, but defending your QB is kind of a thing for OL men.

normally I'd agree, I'd like to see them do that myself, within reason. "Within reason", in that situation, is limited to shoving the tackler just enough to let him know you are there. Not the nearest OM player, no punches, not enough to throw him across the benches.

And then some low cut blocks to their DL spread out over the rest of the game.

However there are 2 caveats why not to react at all:

1. If Burrow pops up and waves you off. At that point you just "loom" while Burrow gives an earful.

2. If there's a reason why you can't afford to lose a player. If you're 2nd team OL, you get in there. But in this case, BOTH our OTs were 2nd team with starters out and the 3rd string OT also out. Getting ejected risked more injury to Burrow than that 1 hit did.

I think that Ole Miss wanted to do to Joe what Miss St did to Tua. Knock him out of the Heisman race.

They did the right thing. Go over and get him. They should not get a personal foul or risk an ejection and this would only hurt the team.

Good also hurt us down the line with refs if we get a bad reputation. Could get flagged more often for physical play.

Burrow had one foot out of bounds. Anyone that thinks there was intent to injure is a moron.

Flag warranted, yes. Malicious intent, no.

Video of the hit and players reaction

Multiple players ran to the sideline, including Cushenberry & Moss, and got into the face of the OM punk who hit him.

Have no clue what Moscona is whining about.

Could you print this in flow chart form on wristbands, so we can give it to our players?

The video in slow motion shows Joe's two feet clearly out of bounds. Thank you, Mr. Stevie Wonder, for your contribution.

....that was a cheap shot. I held my breath. Joe Burrow's teammates should have been all over this creep.
