More Kiner & Goodwin and less TDP..

The freshman are more elusive, and can avoid the penetration the OL is consistently allowing.
CEH was a master at making guys miss in the backfield and getting positive yardage. He and Burrow helped the OL win the top OL award in 2019 which turned out to be an illusion.
TDP needs room to get up a head of steam and our OL isn’t giving it to him; and with Emery now done, we need guys back there with the agility to make guys miss.

It was so noticeably different when 21 & 22 had the ball. I really hope we see the more moving forward.

Man what has happened to my guy TDP.
Gave us great reps in 2019. I mean of course Burrow and Brady but he looks slow as shite

Limited giggle and lateral movement. Straight ahead guy.

I might be making a bad comparison but Kiner reminded me of sophomore year Guice on that touchdown run. Elusive but with some power.

I see that Goodwin is in a walking boot

TDP runs better when QB is under center. Our running plays are very vanilla.

Goodwin broke one off for a big gain, then came up really gimpy.

Yeah. Goodwin has been banged up all camp.
I’d sit him until SEC play and roll with Kiner with TDP/Williams/Bradford behind him for now.

He has very little burst. No lateral quickness and really doesn't break tackles all that well for a purported "power back". People remember his TD run vs. Florida, but a big part of that was LSU went quickly and had Florida out of position at the snap. TDP literally took the handoff and ran straight through the big hole it created on the right side. There wasn't much vision needed on the run.
He's basically a Kenny Hilliard type of runner who would have faired better in Les's system of getting the ball running downhill towards a hole. He's just not a fit for what LSU wants to do where he is taking the handoff almost from a standstill moving sideways. CEH excelled because he had the lateral quickness and vision to play in space. TDP doesn't. That doesn't make him a bad player. Just a bad fit for this offense which needs its RB to play in space with quick burst ability.
Goodwin showed the speed to bounce outside if need be and Kiner showed some ability to make quick cuts and accelerate up field. LSU can still play TDP, but I think it is time to start getting the freshman more and more snaps.

Just wish we could hurry up and get Emery cleared.

IMO TDP needs to be already going downhill when given the ball. His skills are not conducive to being given the ball at a dead stop.

I mean, all 3 had one nice run apiece and not much else.
Just so happens those 3 runs were on the best blocked runs of the night. Blocking improves, they all improve.

Damn it! Why can’t we have nice things?

It seems this team is cursed

Goodwin looked great on his first carry. Man it sucked to see him get his ankle rolled on. Hope he can get healthy in the next few weeks.

More healthy OL starters would be better. We still don't know what Emery will look like in this offense. Till then too early to name them ahead of TDP and Emery.

What is that statement based on?
How many under center plays has LSU run with TDP since 2019?

Tdp and emery have had plenty of time to separate themselves and havent. Its time to let others get opportunities in big games. We need to play the best players no matter their class. That goes for every position, especially on the dl. Maason smith and roy should get the start next week too.

TDP can play and have a huge roll, but he can’t get hit or have to change direction early. If he can’t get down hill he can make cuts and make plays. He has to get 2yards into the defense to be effective.
