I do believe he is overated. Our defense gives up way too many big plays at critical times in lots of big games over the years. I don't think he takes advantage of the talent he has.

I was at lunch. I answered your question
Posted on 9/13/19 at 1:40 pm to Srobi14
Did you even watch the game?
Florida beat LSU because of their defensive line, specifically, their defensive ends whom we couldn’t block
Not sure where you got that their offense beat us, or that we couldn’t stop them

When we did stunt or bring a lb we were very effective.

FIFY, but yea we brought plenty more pressure than some here would have you think.

What position do you think he plays?
Since you must not know based on your statement does a defensive end drop into coverage once the RB doesn’t get the ball in your mind and if he does continue towards the qb is that a blitz to you?
Do you consider rushing 4 a blitz?
Have you heard the coaches say what our strategy was with containing Ehlinger and how THEY said we should have been more aggressive?

3rd best defense in CFB since Aranda took over, and you're not getting the coordinator/coach from #1 or #2.

Yeah this board is so stupid sometimes.

THEY said we should have been more aggressive?
ETA: And don't bother if it's O. Because he doesn't even seem to know who's calling plays. He could come out tomorrow and say we were aggressive enough. That's just coach speak.

You answered my question with another question. Atleast I had the balls to make my opinion known

well, I would like to know who is because it seems like every team gets torched once in awhile these days.

Getting talent a Dline is the only real hole the defense has, and O is trying to fix that. Most of our good DL are hurt/injuries, but don’t have that apex guy that can bust through double teams and affect everything. Fix that and all of a sudden the whole defensive backfield become all world...

I haven’t seen the stats for that, but do the numbers back that claim up? Genuinely curious

The only thing I'm critical of Aranda on would be his approach towards mobile QBs and not blitzing a little more than he does. They use the "cage rush" and truthfully it hasn't worked because the d-line can't get pressure.
It's complex these days with these spread concepts and getting a mismatch and a defender can get burnt real quick. I think Aranda does an overall good job. I think you'll see a little more aggressive defense from here on. People need to relax, the defense will be ok.

S&P+ ratings have LSU with an average rank of #5. Clemson is 2nd at average 3.7. Alabama is 1st w/ an average of #3.

Good, now we don't have to worry about him getting poached this off season.

“It mattered most in the first quarter?”
Do you think it’s easy to stop an offense like that twice within 10 plays inside your own 10? What’s harder making a goaline stand or stopping a team from driving the field? Yes those two stops mattered more than any other drive because they were guaranteed points and we gave up none. And for the record Aranda held Florida on the road to 20 points on the road. They scored off a turnover and the only reason we even got the game to OT vs A&M is because Arandas defense scored a touchdown.
