Fulton is a pretty damn good corner but was put of position on the receiver most of the time. You can't cover a guy that tall from his outside hip and from behind. Looked like why he was getting his feet tangled. Plus turning inside facing the QB... WR on your outside so you can't see him. Maybe it was just an off night, but not his best game for sure.

For me it is not so much the numbers because that is always circumstantial, it is how often does he get the ball back for the offense and do we get the ball back for the offense in critical moments. The answer often has been not often and this is mainly why I am critical of him.

LSU held their opponents to 35.5% on 3rd down last year and forced 25 turnovers.

Every single time you post, it's ridiculously inaccurate info. Just stop.

In his time at LSU Dave Aranda has yet to give up 40 points in a 4 quarter game. Over that span Nick Saban has given up over 40 twice and Brett Venables has given up over 40 once. To people who don’t know better Saban and Venables are the two premier defensive minds in college football but once again Aranda right with them if not better.

Now it's not "often" it's "just one half of one game"?

Make up your mind.

ETA: Also, my post contains actual stats and facts, not just my opinion. You should try it sometime.

ETAA: It's also hilarious that you called me "agro" earlier ITT. How embarrassing for you.

We held UT to 7 points in the first half and had back to back goaline stands. He did stop them when it mattered most.

We went cover zero on that busted 4th down play. Otherwise we struggled to tackle at times (week 2) and our LBs weren’t great vs the pass, but we mixed it up a lot as well. Aranda’s D has always been great in short yardage. How about those 2 goal line stands? Yea the RB dropped one but they were forced to get cute then and on the 2nd attempt because they knew they weren’t running at us.

If the offense didn’t botch that 3rd and 1 its probably 27-7 with a fresh defense, a silent crowd and a completely different ball game.

Oh and we won btw. They’ll get better.

what, we couldnt stop A&M or UF when it mattered last year. UCF made a late push also. 35% on 3rd downs puts us at bottom half of the sec which is not good. You are getting on my nerves dude with all the nonsense you're posting.

That was the most promising defensive stat I saw last year. We were somewhere around 80th in CFB in 2017 and made a huge leap forward in 2018. Having more dynamic playmakers on D is a big factor and with the talent on the 2019 D I am hoping the trend continues.

So S&P+ goes back to 2005. That was Pelini's first year. This is the average defensive rank for each coordinator since then:

Pelini - 5.6
Mallory/Peveto - 20
Chavis - 7.3
Steele - 34
Aranda - 5

Since Aranda arrived, only two programs have a better average rating:

Alabama - 3
Clemson - 3.7
Aranda - 5

Clemson has the 2nd highest paid coordinator in all of college football and Alabama has Saban.

And yet, here we are, saying Aranda is slipping.

UF had 3 scoring drives, total. UCF had 250 yards of offense.

7th isn't bottom half.

3rd was 34%. You're splitting hairs there.

To be fair, it's only a handful of ignorant people saying he's slipping. They're just screaming the loudest right now.

You clearly don't know what a strawman argument is.

Those stops were pretty damn important. The defense never allowed UT to take the lead again one we passed them in the 2nd quarter.

If LSU goes down 14-3 on the road, who knows what happens.
