You're trying to make it sound like they are going up $140 per night, you disingenuous prick. It's $140 for the week, divided amongst 8 people. So, basically $17.50 per man, or $2.50 per day, per person. If your broke arse is having an issue paying another $2.50 a day, you probably shouldn't be going on fishing trips like this. Stay in a tent at the campground, ya puss.

When taxes get raised for things people stop buying and you lose money. Don’t you get it?

Using a portion of the Tradition Fund as a tax deduction doesn't save the average person a lot of money unless you itemize.

It is not a "donation" so I have never understood why it is considered a legal charitable contribution.

Damn man. Sorry to upset you so much with my spring vacation destinations.

Who said anything about 8 people? I didn't.

My cabin is usually me and a former co-worker and his son and daughter. He could collect from them but he would have to loan them the money so he can get paid. I think his oldest is 12 or 13 now. He was an infant the first time we went.

Another cabin is my sister and Bama-fan brother-in-law.

Another is two families - husband/wife from Lafayette who live in Houston their two/three sons and co-workers - a couple and their two daughters (both in college).

Sometimes we have customers or friends that come - have had customers from Brazil, India, Mexico, Malaysia, Canada and Trinidad.

Me, my former co-worker-friend and the Lafayette and Czech crews and kids are the ones who have been every year since we started going.

I hope that somehow my explanation makes you feel better and you aren't mad anymore.

It's a nice place - Dish Network in the cabins screened in patio/porch and huge decks right on the lake. We love it, BUT with all the people who have to travel and the availability of places closer and cheaper it's just not worth it anymore.

I itemize and it does not get me shite in return. 800 in donations gets me back around a whopping 150 dollars or so.

LA leaders have no idea how to run anything. I've lived in 2 other states that have no income tax, same or close sales tax, and same or far less property tax and they both get way more done with the money and don't ever go negative.

When people move to Houston from Louisiana, they don't know what to do with all the extra money, better infrastructure and better schools

They're costing all of Louisiana money also. We get cabins every year at Toledo bend. They are going up $140 for each cabin for next year. Will be the first time in over 10 years we don't go.

Someone asked a person at TB why they were raising prices. The lady said they weren't but the state was adding the travel/tourism tax to the rentals.

You used to have to rent 11 months in advance to get the cabins you wanted. They are all still available now only a few months out.

Sad, they add taxes to get more money but the place is empty now because they added the taxes so they won't get more money.

$140 keeps you from going on vacation? I doubt they are empty because of that...unless they were like $79/night to begin with.

Because Russell Long and a Senator from...Nebraska, maybe? did it to benefit their respective college football teams.

I too don't know why this morphed into a state tax thread. I guess people don't read the links. This is related to the new federal tax reform bill.

Not sure who downvoted my tax statement but I'm guessing it some of the idiots that don't understand how taxes work.

Of 800 dollars you get to deduct 640 dollars.

So you lower your tax burden by 640 dollars. If you are in say the 25% bracket that saves you about 160 dollars. It's generally a little less because of graduated tax brackets.

As another poster stated as well in the new system the standard deduction goes way up do it doesn't matter anyways for many people.
