GOP tax proposal:

LINK

"The bill contains two provisions that would potentially cost major college and professional teams money. The first would eliminate the ability to deduct college donations made in exchange for tickets. While fans cannot deduct the cost of tickets, they can deduct the donation, which creates an incentive for ticketholders."

They're costing all of Louisiana money also. We get cabins every year at Toledo bend. They are going up $140 for each cabin for next year. Will be the first time in over 10 years we don't go.

Someone asked a person at TB why they were raising prices. The lady said they weren't but the state was adding the travel/tourism tax to the rentals.

You used to have to rent 11 months in advance to get the cabins you wanted. They are all still available now only a few months out.

Sad, they add taxes to get more money but the place is empty now because they added the taxes so they won't get more money.

$140 to sleep 8 people in a cabin on a lake still isn’t a bad deal. LA State Parks individually lose money except for Bayou Segnette and a couple others. Those parks carry the rest.

I think you misunderstood the post, which read that the price was increasing $140 per cabin, and apparently that $140 is all state tax.

Edit: I screwed the math in my first attempt and removed that.

State Parks facilities pricing

Looks like cabins are $150 a night and $175 on weekends (Deluxe Cabin).

Now, if they’re going up an additional $140 per night, making them $290, yeah that’s going to hurt them.

It's $140 in addition to what already averaged out to be $140 per night. I think it is $120 weekdays and $150 weekends.

Anyway, there are too many places much closer here in Texas for us to drive all the way to Louisiana at that price. And I LOVE Toledo Bend.

Looking at Big Bend, North Padre, Somerville Lake by Brennan among others.

Good news is it'll never pass. Remember "Repeal and Replace?" This WH and Congress are inept and impotent.

When taxes get cut and bills don't get paid, fees have to increase. Republican reality. Cut taxes, pass the cost directly on the users. We see it in education as well. Pretty soon Louisiana state colleges will cost as much as private colleges, because the state won't be supporting education anymore.

Why don’t you rent cabins on Texas side? Strange, a lot of Louisianans drive across to get cabins and now it appears Texans do the same. The grass must really be greener.

Should never have been a deduction in the first place.

Considering 10% of all people born in Louisiana eventually move to TX. Probably like to visit Louisiana a couple times of year and this camping trip is probably an avenue for that.

When will Louisiana wake up?

We have just always gone to South Toledo Bend State Park.

A guy at work had gotten a 5th wheel and me, him, and another guy just went for a joy ride one day. I took him to the old Indian Creek camp ground by the damn to show him a level pad on a hill right by the water.

After that we went to the Texas observation tower. While there two older couples came up to the top and asked if we knew of an RV park around there. I pointed to one you could see that was across from Indian Creek.

During the conversation they mentioned the new park that had just opened. I didn't even know there was one - to us it was always just Pleasure Point and is one of the places on the lake we would go to party and camp. Anyway, we went down and looked around. We started renting cabins the 2nd year they were open and have done it every year since including this one. Next year will be different though.

It is financially proven that having NBA & NFL in a city is an advertising machine that exists in only 30 & 32 markets respectively (Actually less given cities with multiple teams). New Orleans' main business is tourism, and people around the country hear "New Orleans" when watching or reading about both sports. You could not put a price on that advertising, but I am sure an economist probably has, LOL.

All of government is designed to enslave and impoverish the polity. It does nothing else. Doubt people will ever catch on to that.
