Why does he rep Sweden?

financial / business decision
Most popular marketing athlete in Europe & Sweden right now.
His name, image, and face are all over buildings, busses, cars, billboards, magazines, etc ... for marketing, modeling, and advertising.
He will make 10x's more money repping Sweden than the US.
Red Bull and PUMA are paying him millions.

US wouldn't allow for his dad to be his coach and Sweden would, is one of the reasons I heard

If he vaulted for America, no one outside of Louisiana would think about him except for a month every four years.

I brought him up while playing cards in Lafayette last week, and they didn't even know who he was.

sad because Greg has been Mondo's coach his entire life, since he first picked up a pole (Mondo at age 5)

Why did he denounce his American citizenship? Wasn’t he born and raised in Louisiana? Why not compete for the U.S.? Is it all just about making more money in Sweden and in European meets?

Congrats to him nonetheless.

Track and field athletes don't use national team coaches for their training. The national team "coaches" that are at events are really just administrative roles that make sure people are where they need to be at the right time etc.

Kind of like nike has the bowerman track club but they aren't affiliated with the national team.

That's not why he represents Sweden.

That’s actually a huge reason he represents Sweden. And this decision was made when he was 15 years old

Great for Mondo. He made the right decision. I just don't understand why so many dudes on this board are up his arse.

There is a nice image of his girlfriend on Instagram wearing his LSU letter jacket. If someone knows how to find and post the URL, it would be a fun photo to share.
