...but they did, hence why they are competing for that country.

Tremont could very easily be playing for the USA 3x3 team right now if he wanted to.

That's absolutely fine, he can go do whatever he wants. But the circle jerk around here for him is pathetic.

Agreed! It's laughable that people throw shade at anyone that makes a comment on this. God forbid if anyone has anything to say other than wanting to jerk off Mondo. He can kick fricking rocks! Fact, anyone not wearing the three letters on their uniforms USA can kick fricking rocks!

Which sucks. I love things like javelin, high jump, shot put, etc. I like track AND field.

I'd rather watch any of them than synchronized swimming or trampoline jumping.

No they didn't. to have a choice, there has to be another option.

No he couldn't without making a career change. You have to qualify by playing 3x3 tournaments that you can't really win unless you stop playing professional 5x5 basketball. Its why there aren't any NBA players in the tournament.

This is an LSU board not a USA board.

The other option is to rep your birth country and participate in lower level events and try to qualify for the trials

Jimmer Fredette was on the 3x3 team.

You're trying so hard, but you're just wrong here.

Again, they chose different countries. Just because they wouldn't have made the USA team doesn't mean they were forced to choose a different country. They can still rep team USA without being in the Olympics.

Ryan Crouser is worth an estimated 7 million dollars. The notion that Mondo is far richer and so popular is a myth. Not sure how that ever got started

Mondo himself laid out the reasons :his dad is his coach and qualification process is easier

That doesn’t make him a bad guy. But this re-writing of history of how better Sweden makes it for him over America simply isn’t there either. It’s people trying to over compensate for mondo hate

Team USA pole vaulting doesn't deserve mondo. If people actually listened to his parents explain why he's on team Sweden they wouldn't start these terrible threads every year.

Mondo is the worlds greatest pole vaulter of all time.

He's been competing for them for years now. Why the outrage now? Did you just realize that?

He wins a gold medal and then goes home to a fine Swedish chick. You get your vagina hurt on a message board. You are not the same.

If you say so... That would be like a Louisiana kid not taking an Ole Miss offer because LSU didn't offer them. Sure its an option I guess but not really.

Does not play in the NBA and has focused on qualifying for the Olympics in 3x3. Here is an article that proves he gave up 5x5 basketball to play 3x3 back in 2022.

Yeah but context matters. A guy shoots another person and they are guilty of murder UNLESS that person started shooting at them first then its self defense. Every athletes circumstances aren't the same and therefore how they are viewed is not the same.

Mondo had a choice US or Sweden. These other athletes did not have that choice and you acting like their situations are the same is ridiculous.

Its like saying that a guy from Louisiana had a choice to not play in the NFL if he couldn't play for the Saints. Its just a dumb argument. Obviously playing is better for their career than not playing , no matter who it is for. Mondo could have played either way. His choice and theirs isn't remotely the same.

I have never once said that Mondo made the wrong choice. My argument is that I can see why some might disagree with him and that his choice is in no way shape or form the same as 99% of US athletes that compete for other countries.

I'm ambivalent (as every American Tiger fan should be). Happy for him personally, I guess, but who really gives a shite?!

James Carville went to LSU, but I don't cheer fror him

I pull for my country during the Olympics. If he was competing against an American, I’d be pulling for the American.

100% agree. But too many here are afraid to say it. If it were up to me he’d have his citizenship revoked at once
