Never thought I'd see the day where a pro sports league REDUCES workloads on the players. This is a step in the right direction.

I am indifferent to number of games and division games.

But a hard NO to opponent selection. That's just stupid.

Opponent selection is incredibly stupid. You’re giving the chosen opponent an emotional edge.

Yeah I've never been a fan of re-seeding in general. Line em up 1-6 (currently) without division championship mattering and go at it.

Agree. Either rank teams by record or go to highest remaining team vs. lowest if they want a change.

I like the reduction in number of games. Now they just need to work out a way to show regional games on TV. They make it incredibly hard to watch games that aren’t on national networks.

Sadly, the NFL is going down the same road with more games, international games and streaming of certain games.

Division winners get a playoff spot, but the bracket is seeded 1-6, strictly on record. In this case, the Astros would have played the Indians on the road.

Please. Most people lose interest in baseball once the football is kicked off

It should end in August, postseason in September. Too many people check out for football come October.

Can't wait to hear from the MLBPA about how this proposal is an absolute non starter.

The most solid proposal I have seen for reducing games is a lockout. I think that will do the trick big-time.

Need to cut the number of games down by another 50.

This is definitely a step in the right direction. However, I agree that picking your opponent is dumb. Instead they just need to go back to the way it was for decades: only one playoff round - the World Series. No divisions. The team with the best record in the National League faces off against the team with the best record in the American League in a best of seven series. No inter-league play either. The only time American League and National League players should meet in competition is either the World Series or the All-Star Game.

I think it adds a level of strategy. Who is hot/cold, who has burned up a lot of pitching recently, etc

I don't know about that but by mid October the World Series should be wrapping up

Why?

I love the World Series being around Halloween because in the South it accompanies "real fall"

The only real argument I can make for fewer games (other than just administration type stuff) is to increase the importance of individual games, but I don't think most fans would want to shorten the season meaningfully. Especially because I think the weakest part of the season is late Summer - and what do you do about that?

I support the change to a 154-game schedule and the 7-game Division Series. Add the games back where they have more meaning.

Any debate about how this will affect single-season records doesn't hold much water considering they played a 154-game schedule for half of the last century.

I don't love picking your opponents in the playoff. I think a more logical fix is just to seed by best-record so you avoid scenarios like we had with the AL West this season.

Fans love drama. They probably think this will boost interest (tv ratings) from casual fans.
