It’s true… but say it with your chest. Jay was trying to win games. But don’t be anon when you criticize one of the best managers in the nation.

Thanks. This quote got me:

The assigned slot value of his selection is worth an unspecified amount of money.

“It's hard to pitch when you're looking over your shoulder right when you get in the game,” a scout told The Advocate. “I don't know how Jay (Johnson) didn't know that, but if you throw one ball, and you're like, ‘Okay, I'm already going to be out for the next guy.’ I just think, as someone who played, that’s no way to pitch.”
And that's different from professional baseball how?

Brutal how?
It just doesn’t come across as professional courtesy to me. But I’m not familiar at all with scouts/coaches unwritten conduct codes. So…just brutal in my opinion.

Jay don't play around. You don't throw strikes he's shipping you off the mound. I do think Jay overthinks things at times. He's very OCD you can tell. That said, I think this past season's team made him more OCD than ever before because he could trust very little on the roster.
Based on his portal moves, I think he realized the bigger problem was defense destroying the pitcher's mentally which I kinda have to agree.

I assume that scout has several national championships

If you can't locate your pitches in pro ball they get hit over the fence just about every time. Pitchers with command issues don't make it to AA. The whole quote doesn't make sense if he's trying to get drafted

It’s not uncommon. Scouts don’t owe anything to lsu. I think it’s a fair observation. But from jays perspective, you have to earn your innings. He has too many options. Benge never earned the right to pitch in leverage spots, much less the right to pitch to more than a few batters.

To be honest, that more sounds like something an agent would say and not a scout. Heck, some MLB teams have scouts in their scouting department who don’t agree with each other.
I believe, as I’ve heard others say, that agents have much more of the ear of the players and their families than the scouts. Just my opinion though.

From how it looks now we could have a ridiculous blend of talented veterans along with very talented young players with huge upside next year

Binge is def draftable and worth seeing what happens. But at the time, JJ had seen too many control issues from a lot of pitchers and was trying to show that first and foremost you have to throw strikes.

Is Garcia gone where he was drafted?

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard something like this. I always reply the same, CJJ and Yeskie were hired to win games and championships. Everyone else is out for themselves, MLB teams, scouts, agents, players, families/handlers etc.

Thoughts on Washington?
28th rated prep player on perfect game.
Think his camp may have been asking for too much money, or do you think that a team is going to give him a late offer knowing that he will sign for relatively low value?

Yep. It’s great when the incentives and performance align, but there are a lot of times it doesn’t.
That’s baseball.

Vandy with a couple back to back commits picked in the 15th. Probably not signing but you never know.
