Any projections for Hale? Lacks some athleticism and power but damn he's been pretty consistent the last 2 years.

Just went to the Mariners in the 9th.

OP... can you please add the others who were already drafted who were NOT in the Top 500 (Person, Hale, etc.?

Maybe just put them below the list with NR (not ranked)?

Why was Josh Tobias not taken until the 10th round?

Very happy for all our guys; glad that Laird gets his chance. He certainly earned it. I remember when his buddy started the thread years ago about how surprised we were going to by his friend Mark Laird who was going to kick a$$ in baseball, and most of us were skeptical. He was right on.

Updated OP with Person Laird and Hale. I still like Laird to come back unless offered way over slot.

Like others have said he comes from a well to do family and the slot is worth only $164k...remember new minor leaguers only get about $1100 a month salary...so you're living off your signing bonus.

Stranger things have happened though. Would be great to have him back and in CF.

I think there is a decent chance he is gone or they wouldn't have taken him in the top 10 rounds. The slot value isn't much, but they would be forfeiting that money from their pool if they don't sign him. If they just liked him and wanted to pick him in case he signs they could have done so in round 11 without losing anything.

He certainly could leave but I dont see why Laird would leave for such little money. HE could stand to make even more and leave with a degree already staying another year. Now if they offer a good bit over slot, it might be worth going and coming back to school during offseason.

So most likely we lost Taylor. I see another guy was drafted as well. Since that slot is about $173K, thinking he will come to LSU, so if we only lose Taylor, not bad. I know he is a great pitcher, but we have Latz coming back, so that is like getting another high school recruit.

I am excited about the pitching with Poche and Lange.

Piatnik is signing, he told teams his floor is 8th round money and got drafted in 8th round, so highly unlikely he ends up here.

I dont think that's a huge loss though. Is a very slick fielder but his bat is at best below average (is a switch hitter at least).

Because seniors have no leverage, he could get picked higher and get less money

Where was Bregman ranked coming out of high school?

Three years of hard work led to $7.5 million. Not bad for a college junior. Lesson to be applied by high school prospects.

Certainly possible, but he's not getting much above bottom dollar either right now if he gets slot.

Also, I'm sure he wants to give MLB a shot but he's simply not a MLB player. It would be a small miracle if he ever got called up more than likely.

FYI on Laird

Heard from immediate family today that he does not want to get drafted by a team above the Mason-Dixon line. Bodes well for those that want him to return.
