Missing Skenes here in Austin would be similar to missing the opportunity to see Joe in 19

Decided to put work on hold tomorrow and check this dude out live and in person and bought a single for tomorrow’s game. Can’t beat the price and the facility for $25 bucks.
I like others here have a good feeling this guy is a major leaguer(possible starter) in a few short years. I wanna see this smoke up close.

Get that Popcorn ready I’m in

Missing seeing the greatest athlete in LSU history is like missing the opportunity to miss the 200th best athlete in LSU history?

Hmmmmmm

And 200 is a stretch at the moment.

You’ll find Skenes makes it look easy. It’s not exciting, it is beautifully efficient. He also looks like a major leaguer when he’s at the plate.

I truly believe Crews is the best player to ever put on an LSU jersey. He’s that good.

And you are 12? I mean you cannot be serious about the greatest athlete.

Not the greatest Athlete. Greatest QB and most decorated Tiger.

Good point. Yeah I didn’t mean to discount Crews but I was going to see him Saturday.
I feel like I would regret not seeing Skenes pitch live.

So Joe Burrow isn't the greatest athlete in LSU history?

There were far greater athletes including football players at LSU that played 2 ways like Jerry Stovall for example. Doc Casanova.
Let’s move to track and field- there are probably 10 I can name with the men alone not including all of those women.

So many in basketball that we can’t count including on this year’s team that are better athletes.

Look, I love Joe and root for him hard with the Bengals but he isn’t even close to the most decorated athlete in LSU history…

Athlete is about athletic ability and not playing the position of quarterback.

Obviously my fault bringing a comparison to Joe because I should have known thread would get derailed thinking I was saying he was a good overall as Joe.
I was just suggesting it’s a mistake to miss this pitcher live.
He looks special and we have had a lot to compare him to on the mound.

Dude you just made a claim about Burrow that was completely irrelevant to point of the OP and now you’re looking for someone to argue this irrelevant point.

I can’t speak for OP but I’ll try and simplify it for you: Skenes is an absolute unit, if you were creating a pitcher in a laboratory you take Skenes and clone him. He is that good and has that much talent/potential. It has nothing to do with where they “rank” on your LSU athlete list. Skenes has the potential to do things we haven’t seen done in an LSU uniform and missing the chance to see him in person could potentially be be similar to missing out on Burrow’s Heisman run. Pretty simple.

I like how you roll Ostrich.

You explained it better than me why this Skenes is interesting.

I don’t have near the Baseball knowledge as others here especially specific to pitchers. But what I do notice as someone mentioned above he is not only a Unit but makes it look fairly easy to hit high velocity into a hundred pitches.
His size and that ease of pitching style seems highly sustainable for a long career as well of course barring something unfortunate.

None of us really knew what Joe was until we got about four games into that season. People can say what they want about all of this, but it took time for everyone to believe what they were seeing.

Skenes has shown that before he came to LSU. So I agree with what you’re saying. Now to say that he is better than any other, I’m not going there.
For someone like him (and all pitchers really) the measuring stick is Lloyd Peever. If he does or comes remotely close to what, Lloyd Peever accomplished in 1992 that would be a fantastic season. No pitcher has done that at LSU.

Bertman said and will say today that is the single greatest season by any LSU pitcher ever.

I mean He’s not even the highest projected player on the team.

Crews is literally on track to be an LSU all time great.

Agreed, you can’t really compare him as he’s only throw 1 game but his physical tools give him an insanely high ceiling. He’ll have good and bad games, everyone does. Pitching is about more than physical tools. Mentally controlling the game plays a massive part. With his talent and “stuff” when he’s locked in mentally, controlling the game, hitting spots I don’t think there is a lineup in college baseball that can hit him.
