Blue is the one who seems to get so much love here and I just don't really get why. I don't think he sucks or anything at all but I don't get what he's done to earn the praise.

He broke some runs but several came once teams had thrown in the towel, like the SECCG

Bottom line for this season and all subsequent seasons: Can LSU's Offensive Line block Bama?

Not sure if serious??

Who in LSU's backfield is a dissappointment??

Ware was a huge disappointment.

Ford's inability to run between the tackles was worrisome

Hilliard needs to get in shape?? By who's standards is Hilliard out of shape?

Alabama made Hilliard look slow compared to some of the shite defenses he tore up when he came on the scene. No need to be as big as he is. He can do the same thing at 225# than he can do at 245#. No one is going to want to hit him either way. But he can improve his speed & agility.

I think everyone would agree that we are having this debate because we have 5 horses in the backfield that could start at just about any other school in the country.

they are good, but they are not elite like that. We dont have a Knile Davis or Eddie Lacy or Lattimore in our backfield.

Not that we need a true feature back. We proved that last year. But i think if we did have that standout, we'd ride him

Blue can't control *when* he gets his carries.

Yeah, I get that. And I'm not trying to denigrate the guy. I said earlier that I like him as a RB. Just saying that it does need to be acknowledged as to how he got his big runs.

If you want to, you can spin it as him being the 'nail in the coffin guy'.

There are people in the know that say he is at or near the top of the depth chart. I don't want to go into too much detail because its from 247 premium board.

Point me in the right direction for that, I'd like to read that thread (I have a membership).

You seriously putting Lacy in the same class as Davis and Lattimore? I just don't see it, but he may prove me wrong this year.

Relax boss, your comment made it sound like you thought Blue was garbage and thats what I was commenting on. I certainly wouldn't say Blue was/is our best option at RB. I get it, you are saying Blue had a lot of carries late in games when the other team was out of it already, however, he can only produce when he is in the game, whether it be 1st or 4th quarter. I do think that he could potentially be very good this season, based on his performances from last season.

So he looked bad in one game last season? Against the national champions which had one of the best defenses in the history of college football that featured 3 players that got drafted in the first round of the NFL draft, and also in a game where our OL sucked and offense didnt do shite to move the ball period...pretty harsh criticism there

Eddie Lacy can't even hold Lattimore and Davis' jockstraps. Outside of that, you are throwing around 2 of the best names in college football at the position. I said our guys could start JUST ABOUT anywhere else in the country, so I guess we have eliminated two places that our guys might not be able to start. While we might not have a Heisman frontrunner (which is in part because they split carres), I think most people would agree that with the ability and depth, LSU has one of the 5 best backfields in college football.

you have to consider who he looked good against.

we'll see.

he has 151 carries, 1080 yards in 2 years. 13 TDs

that's 7.1 YPC

Yeah, Lattimore is unstoppable, unless of course you are a 190 lb cornerback.

Jk. He is a solid player.

Here is a breakdown of Alfred Blue for those that are interested in a bit more of an indepth look.

LINK

Looks like his YPC are about what Ware's were in first half carries, FTR.

ETA: For comparison purposes, looks like Edward K. Lacy vastly inflates his numbers when games are out of hand or in the fourth quarter.

Or maybe not. Some are speculating that is injury is a little more serious than originally thought.

ETA: By the way, do we really know HOW Lacy is doing? There are so many different things out there about his injury. Anybody know the real deal? PLEASE do not make me go to the SEC Rant.

ETA2:Dammit. Went to the Rant. Supposedly Lacy is healthy and ready to go.

Ware was VERY effective at the beginning of last season. He seemed to run out of steam as the season progressed, and after his synthetic weed scandal, he was never the same.

Ford had a couple of nagging injuries it seemed all year, but was usually solid. If he had any vision problems, it was more b/c 9 guys in the box takes away a lot of running room. Having a more balanced offense will cure this.

I personally would like hilliard and ford splitting time, but I have a feeling it will be Ware and Ford. But I'm fine w/ this too.

Miles may play some favorites, but we should all agree that he will pull a RB for the hot hand.

I agree, Blue is good but I still have him fourth on the RB depth chart.

Its a long season.

Miles is being an idealist at this point.

I nominate the two best, at any moment in time.

Are you expecting us to guess which two get the most snaps?

I will guess that a different duo starts vs NT, than starts vs Bama, than starts vs SEC champ game opponent, which is to say, I bet that different people step up and dominate until they are dinged and then other guys get their shot. I doubt anyone can make it all the way thru unscathed. Hilliard, I guess.
