Wasn't Roscoe an accident? I seem to remember one of his parents snuck out of its cage to get busy.

Coach Miles failed to dedicate the remaining games of 2015 to SID, the greatest fan in the history of LSU, especially since cancer afflicted SID lived in Alabama.
You seriously posted this?
Miles did a lot for Sid. It wasn't necessary to dedicate a season to him. It's not necessary to dedicate an entire to Mike VI. He may live another 2 years, comfortably and I hope he does. I'm sure there will be acknowledgements of Mike VI at the appropriate time.
Meanwhile, the guy known as the "tiger whisperer" disappeared. I hope he didn't pass away, but it doesn't look good. No one has been able to find him and he hasn't been spotted at Mike's place in several years. If he's around, this may bring him out. He and Mike had a special bond. Always neat to watch.

They support Disney's Animal Kingdom. They didn't when it was announced but after seeing it in person, they reconsidered.

I hope the best for this man. He said that Mike saved him from suicide. And yes, he hasn't been seen in awhile. I hope he was able to overcome his torments.

I was by Mike's habitat this morning. He doesn't seem to be in obvious pain, but from someone who has seen him most every day for the last couple years, his demeanor seems a little different.
Now on these hot summer days, he mostly lays around and sleeps. If he's lazing around, people are around, and he doesn't feel like interacting, he will normally laze/doze/sleep, happily oblivious to spectators.
When he's laying about by the habitat fence, I've never seen him get up, move about five feet out of sight, and then lay down again. He doesn't seem to be agitated, but he obviously wants to be left alone.
And it's not as simple as with radiation treatment he'll live one or two years. How will Mike respond to the treatment? I seriously doubt he'll get his treatment and then be one hundred percent the next day.
If he's constantly in pain, or suffering many of the other symptoms of radiation treatment, it would be humane to go ahead and euthanize him. I guess the vets will make that judgment after a few treatments.

some of you may be curious as to how a tiger got cancer. Well this lady can explain

quote:
Jennifer Kelly That cat does not belong in this environment , that why he got sick depression set in an imbalanced his whole body, that tiger should have been doing what the hell tigers do , hunting in the jungle. Please don't capture another tiger.

Where did that enlightened soul post her ever so helpful opinion?

What a sad story. That tiger represents all that is good with LSU. Keep fighting Mike.

The hippies are out in full force on social media. With the way the world has become so pc, there will undoubtedly be pushback when we try to get a new tiger. I'm afraid our administration doesn't have the balls to tell them to STFU.

You know who DGAF about spectators? Old Mike IV. He was a world class napper - could have napped in the Olympics.
I recall the story of drunk LSU students cutting the lock on the night before the Tulane game in 1981 - although the game was in New Orleans, these fellows - you know the type - thought it would be "good luck" for Mike to roam around campus before the game. He seemed content to attack a tree near the LSU police station before getting tranquilized for his trouble.
Good times...

It's probably safe to assume this will be our last tiger? Regardless of how long he has left?

The last interview someone did with him indicated he wasn't doing very well. I hope if he passed away, it was peaceful and not self induced.
There are a number of youtube videos out there of he and Mike interacting. All pretty much the same. There was definitely something between the two of them.
I think Mike VI is a special animal. He's far from just a live mascot.
