Michael Williams, the DE transfer from Texas didn't see the field at all last season. Wouldn't that make him eligible immediately with the new transfer rules?

No eligible I don’t believe. Not seeing the field at Texas doesn’t really matter.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong

I don't think so, but he can use his redshirt so he doesn't lose a year of eligibility.

he actually redshirted this past year at Texas
If he sits out a year that would be his redshirt fr year
So, he would end up with three more years to play at LSU

This is different than anything I have heard/read. Just because he didn't play last year doesn't mean he was redshirted. I believe he has 4 years to play 3 with this upcoming season being his redshirt year.

That’s the way it works 99% of the time and the net result is the same even with your interpretation anyway. He’ll have 3 to play 3 beginning in 2020.

Either way he will have 3 years of eligibility after he sits out 2019

I think this transfer rule can be complete BS. Justin Fields can transfer after his freshman season, and possibly be automatically eligible? How is it right that the NCAA can pick and choose players that can be immediately eligible? The NCAA needs to have the same policy across the board for ALL players no matter the university they go to.

The only reason he is possibly eligible is because of racial incident, as stupid as that is and sounds. That shouldn't be a reason to keep the rules from applying to him. But, it is 2019 and the race card is bigger and more powerful than ever.

So more kids will just start using any excuse they can to be eligible

He could get a waiver from the NCAA as he is coming back to his hometown. Basically make an excuse why he had to come back home. This would be extremely difficult for someone transferring to a random school.

I meannits Clearly an excuse but UGA dismisses probably their best hitter for it. So it’s not nothing.
It’s clearly not the reason he’s trancerinf but it’s to the letter of the law of not the spirit

Shea Patterson is the only name I can think of that got a waiver to be immediately eligible at a new school. Maybe some others from Ole Miss?

Get this straight not an excuse it’s a fact yes a racial incident. No race card in 2019 facts, rules.

He did get the waiver as of a few minutes ago. If that's going to get a waiver they need to just do away with the 1 year rule and just let players transfer at will.

That's exactly what that means.

So why can’t michael Williams just claim someone was racist at Texas?

Can’t he just say someone called him a name that triggered him? That seems like it should work.

Does he have relative in LA that is sick, roll that one out too...
