FSU and Clemson are both much better teams than LSU. They played AND HUMILIATED Notre Dame last year...LSU lost to Notre Dame.

You know just as much about how this team will perform this season as anybody else does. Zero point Zero. I wish I could bump some of the preseason 2011 threads. It was dooms day. “Who’s going to start at running back? We have 4 unproven guys. Oh great Jordan Jefferson is out we have a senior pick 6 leading us. At least the defense might be decent.” I love it, never change guys.

They just don’t understand that there won’t be anyone they play all season, until the ACC championship game, that is as physical as LSU. We play multiple teams per year with very physical defenses and are prepared for it and their defense could be in for a rude awakening hopefully. If we are able to run the ball and get a good push on their front 7 then the game will be over and LSU will win

Miami was ranked 38th in total defense last year. LSU was 13th Fricking Troy was 24th. Miami is overrated as frick. I’m willing to bet they end the year unranked.

You realize LSU only played 811 plays on defense while Miami played 989 plays right ? Which is why the yardage given up per game is higher for Miami....
Total defense only measures the yardage given up per game to the opposing team.

A better indicator of how good a defense really is the yards per play which Miami was top 10 in the country in.
LSU 811 plays 4107 5.07 ypp
Miami 989 plays 4717 4.77 ypp

Now let’s talk about how much pressure Miami’s defense causes like leading the country in sacks per game and being top 3 in tackles for loss, top 15 in interceptions.

By the way Miami plays an aggressive scheme so it will give up yards but not that many big plays which is rare to see a defense do that if they are so aggressive.

All I’ve got to say if you only looking at Miami being ranked 38 in the country in terms of yards given up per game thinking that is how good they are then you are sadly mistaken period.

FSU?.... our offense practices against our defense that has plenty of studs on there. It won’t be anything new

Notre Dame thought they would get a push on our front 7 and got man handled, I wouldn’t count on that. The guys who made majority of our sacks and tfls in that game are back

We better take care of business or this is going to end up being really embarrassing for us.

He’s very solid and has revitalized our defense in so many ways since he’s been at Miami but we have had bad performances lately such as the 3 of the last 4 games of the season.

None of that is true.

Hell, half the rant would have surrendered to the Japanese after Pearl Harbor because of that weak display of defense.

I’ve never understood reading other boards pre-game. I don’t read them post game either. I read this board and, sometimes, it’s stupid too.

Miami wants this one bad! They fizzled some at end of year but really looked good early on. They wanna see the “U” back and imo they believe a win against us is a big step. This is equally as big for us as well. This would shut a lot of the noise up around This teams on and off the field issues. Confidence in the locker room would be sky high and week 2 would be a perfect game to iron out some things get reps for Joe and we would see a very confident team goin into Jordan Hare. We need that to have a chance there

I would say he is pretty dang good. Look at what he did with Louisiana Tech. They had one of the best defenses in the country when he was there.

One year I think? And it was a good year, defense helped propel them to success. One of the top defenses in creating turnovers that year.

Why did the Miami defense play so many plays? Was it because they played an extra game, or was it because they were terrible at getting off the field?

Combination of things, not getting off the field as much as they should have on 3rd and longs and then our 3rd down offense was VERY bad and inefficient. It was really feast or famine on that side of the ball. Were they explosive and could score at any moment on offense ? yes but Miami couldn’t sustain drives last year which attributed to the defense staying on the field longer than they should have imo. Its crazy how potent Miami offense could be at times when we were so terrible on 3rd downs offensively. If Miami improves there on both sides of the ball mainly offense then big things will happen for the U
