Great, so will our offense even score 10 points?

Combination of things, not getting off the field as much as they should have on 3rd and longs and then our 3rd down offense was VERY bad and inefficient. It was really feast or famine on that side of the ball. Were they explosive and could score at any moment on offense ? yes but Miami couldn’t sustain drives last year which attributed to the defense staying on the field longer than they should have imo. Its crazy how potent Miami offense could be at times when we were so terrible on 3rd downs offensively. If Miami improves there on both sides of the ball mainly offense then big things will happen for the U

Miami

Rushing yards allowed
# 43 146 yards per game

Passing yards allowed
#54 217 yards per game

Turnover margin
Miami 13
LSU 10

Your defense is overrated. Mediocre at best

You know that this does not bode well for Miami right? Aranda is a damn good DC and if it comes down to who's defense can provide the oppertunites for the offense and ST's then I'll take LSU everytime.

I'm sure Miami will have some explosive plays here or there but consistency is key in these games. We'll have to see what our offense can do and that's a huge questions mark so maybe it measures out evenly. Who knows what can happen in these games.

If I were Miami fans, I wouldn't totally discount this LSU offense simply bc it's a new system and the QB is new to it. The OC here knows this team in and out. This QB is accustom to this style of offense which is part of the reason he was chosen to come here and agreed. He's not some freshman QB brandnew to College ball. We'll see but most LSU fans have much respect for Miami. I think it will be a great game! GO TIGERS!!

LSU defense averaged defending 64 plays a game while Miami defended 76 plays per game so of course they will give up a few more yards.
Miami was top 10 in yards per play in the country

This is why yards per game is such a flawed statistic

Miami rush defense
541 attempts 1895 yards 3.50 ypc 10 tds allowed 145 yards per game

LSU rush defense
433 attempts 1669 yards 3.85 ypc 16 tds allowed 128 yards per game

Miami also gave up less yards per pass attempt than LSU as well and the only reason why our passing defense was ranked that is because how many more passing plays we defended.

Y’all got to be objective, it’s much deeper than yards given up rushing/passing per game. Teams who defend more plays of course will give up more yards overall but look at the per attempt ranking which is lower than LSU in passing yards given up per attempt as well as rushing yards

I wonder what LSU's defensive ranking would have been with Miami's schedule last year lol? Hell if we had their schedule this year we might only lose 1 or 2 games tops!

Wouldnt more plays means your defense couldnt get off the field or that your offense was anemic, couldnt move the ball, 3 and outs and kept your defense on the field for extended periods?

You keep talking about pressure from defense, turnovers etc. What happens if LSU goes with a short passing game that negates the rush. The ball is hiked, you blink your eyes and the QB has already got rid of the football. How is your defense going to get pressure on QB (sacks) and turnovers if the short passing game negates all of that? Would be nice if you could answer the question to that.

Also, as another poster stated, our OL outweighs your DL by 40 lbs. Are you not worried about the DL being pushed around by a bigger, physical OL?

Or maybe it’s because Miami’s defense ranked 75th in Opp 3rd down conversion %

Keep trying to spin it! Fact is you guys “strength” is no better than most of the teams we play every year. The same cannot be said for Miami vs LSUs D

It’s a message board man. They are supposed to be delusionally optimistic about their team. See 90% of Tiger Rant threads.

As the old robot saying goes, “does not compute.” If their threads resembled 90% of Rant threads, they’d be almost exclusively about: hate O, rabble, rabble, rabble, hat Alleva, rabble, rabble, rabble, wish I could cup Saban’s balls, rabble, rabble, rabble...rinse and repeat.

Crap teams made Miami look good. Good teams they faced exposed them for who they are and made them look bad. It is that simple. Paper Canes. Cue the movie "Great White Hype".

Both D's will be dominate but at the end of the day, it will be qb play that will win the game. Imo, their QB will be around 45% completion wise. From high school to college, he has and will always be a 55% completion % QB. That is his MO. Against our defense, 45% as our d will rattle him and will cause him to make mistakes that Greedy and our Linebackers feast on. Burrow on the other hand has always been from high school to college a 65%+ completion % QB. His MO is that he is accurate and can break down defenses and the fact that he does not get rattled. Look for Burrow to make plays and burn their D a few times when they blitz giving us the W. That imo will be the difference in the game.

Worried for what? They pushed around a much better Notre Dame line last year than they will face at LSU. Most of the players who had the tfls and sacks in that game are back.

Where is this narrative coming from that our dline is small? They are Perfect size for a 4-3 dline.

Not sure you have noticed but Miami does have one of the best db groups in college football and the linebacker unit is top 3 as well. So even if you do short passes it won’t mean much or be any different than we have seen
