or an NFL quarterback.

Before Bama game, I posted in response to the Negatigers wringing their hands and saying "I'm only being realistic", that REALISTICALLY, Mett had an honest chance at having a better game than Drew Brees did in his last game (Broncos- 22-42, 213yds, I TD, 1 int.

Well, Mett went 24-35, 298 yds., no INTs, so....

Cutler has better wheels tho.

Cutler is twice as athletic as Mett, but that isn't saying much.

That said, Mett has been move better throwing on the run in the last couple weeks, but his starting point in that area was really low.

In about the same "athleticism" category as, say, the Manning brothers? NFL QBs who are more than pocket passers tend to have short, spotty careers (yes there are exceptions, but as a whole the NFL wants pocket passers who are quick studies and have a great ability to read and react to defensive sets).

He's very, very similar to Ryan Mallett.

Maybe a tad better moving around in the pocket. He's best when he's standing upright and doesn't really have to leave his spot, and can use that ridiculous arm.

Yep. I was just stating it. I don't think it takes away from anything, as he makes up for it in other ways. There are tons of examples of successful NFL QBs who aren't athletic (Marino, Bledsoe, Mannings)

I like the Flacco comparison. Tall, lanky, goofy, with a big arm and sometimes will trust it too much and it will hurt him.

Flacco might be a good comparison too, yeah.

When Mett starts throwing those stupid moon balls that Flacco does, we've got problems.

What's BigJ charging for premium insider status these days? I, sadly, let my subscription lapse some time ago.

Man now I'm watching Ryan Mallett highlights and remembering how sick that dude's arm was.

it's a shame he was so goddamn stupid or he'd have been a #1 pick for somebody.

JR could shake off 300 lb Dlinemen. I hope ZM gains some weight and learns to shake off tacklers. He could be like Ben Roethlisberger on the field, not off.

Honestly, Russell was a once in a generation kind of physical talent.

You don't see athletes like that.

Jimbo Fisher worked his arse off to keep that guy in playing shape, and when he did, he was incredible. Never in my life have I seen an arm like that.

JR threw with more touch. Mett hums almost every pass. I don't think we ever saw JR air it out....remember he could kneel on the goal line and flick it 50yds

Perhaps you missed the TD pass to Ware Saturday? Best thrown ball in Tiger Stadium since the Byrd TD in '07.
