Johnny Football may now be second/third off the board. Hope it doesn't cost Mett too many picks.

He needed to reconstruct that knee anyway before matriculating to the NFL

Definitely. His knee and hips are weak as shite. If anything he will come back stronger!

Jennings is about to run the game that is the gateway to the rest of his football career.

thank god Mett doesn't depend on mobility. He should be able to survive and thrive after this

Well, suddenly a potential Outback Bowl against Nebraska or Iowa doesn't look so bad

I really loved having Mett behind center and really wished that he was going to be able to play in this bowl game for his last game since he was a major player in getting the team there. Heck, if not for two bad games with a couple of picks each, he would have been in the Heisman talk and at isn't something LSU is used to having at the QB spot.

Even though this is a three loss year, it would have been a heck of a lot worse without him since the defense had all of those early departures. I can only imagine what the season would have looked like without a competent offense to keep the ball and keep our D off of the field much more than they have been in the recent past.

That said, AJ starting just might be a good thing for recruiting ya know. with our scrambling for an O Lineman and a couple of receivers might not be committed by that time, a continuation of his dominating performance from the end of the Arky game might really cap off this class with some great talent on that side of the ball. We all know that the defense will be back to form quickly enough but the offense is what LSU is known to be weak and this bowl game should be a great place to turn that around for good.

Mett will heal up and be just fine for his NFL career. Nobody is looking for him to run a great 40 ya know. He will be just fine and go in the third round or better. Heck, I had him pegged for the first round but I really haven't been following any of the projections lately.

From Bonnette's twitter..

LSU is aware of the ESPN report regarding QB Zach Mettenberger's injury. At this point, I can't confirm or deny what ESPN is reporting.

Pretty sure if is was NOT an ACL tear, Bonnette would have shot it down immediately. Im sure they will make everything official tomorrow.

I read on Dandy the other day that it was a strain or sprain..... praying that's all it is.

Maybe ESPN just jumped the gun. We all know ESPN hates LSU.

Two sources confirm LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger tore his anterior cruciate ligament and won't play in the TIgers' bowl game.
