doya2 GREAT point, he did play LB at the spring game and you could see the talent flow from him and Beckwith, also it was really disappointing when he was moved to FB. THE ONLY COACH in the WORLD THAT WOULD MOVE ThIS KID FROM HIS LB POSITION to FB IS LESS MILES. It would have been nice to have had 2 guys like Jones and Beckwith with their size and speed roaming the field/BUT OF course Miles does have the best coaching staff money can buy assembled if not for that there are some that really believe Miles is a COACH

If our coaches played more Xbox or PlayStation Madden football like young ranters they would know all of this.

Prob should have gone to class and studied first

You do realize position changes are voluntary right?
Chavis was the LB coach so if he was asked to move from LB it is because:
Chavis agreed to it
Jones agreed to it
The team needed it
Not passing his classes was all on jones

So why didn't he play qb? You know, the position he played in high school.

Other guys made transition to other positions. Claiborne, Beckwith, Magee, Randle, Mills, Ferguson, Brockers, Lacouture.... I'm missing others, but these guys played a diff position in college then they did in HS.

How is that proof of anything? Using his high school accomplishments as evidence is meaningless.
I don't think Jones passed the eyeball test for MLB at LSU. He's not not fast enough and not quick enough. Welter wasn't either but he seems quicker and faster than Jones to me.

M Jones would of also been one hell of a FB too!!! It's really a Shame these guys take their opportunity for granted!! I just think we were deep at MLB and needed a FB and he fit that with his speed, catching ability and being a LBer he knows how they think. Could of been a great athlete period where ever he played. He was just a great athlete and it sucks that he didn't take it more serious!!!

Welter's grades > Jone's Grades

I respectfully disagree. When Melvin is able to keep his weight down, he moves VERY well for somebody 6'3" and 250lb. True, he is better suited as a Mike LB and run plugger as opposed to an OLB who is speedy, can rush the passer from the edge, and cover, but to say he is not fast enough to play MLB is not accurate IMHO.

That was where he played in high school and was wasted at LSU...Kenny Hilliard should have played LBer also....ask Jeremy Hill who was the best LBer he played against in high school...
What does this have to do with Jones failing out?

Maybe you should have gotten your friend to study harder?

Being a MLB wouldn't have kept his grades up.

Yes.
How many years did Freddie Harrison coach in the SEC?
What was his W/L record?

Does this mean Magee should have been our starting QB?

Every word of this statement is possibly the worst I've read.
Didn't pass thee eyeball test? We recruited him based off of Chief and Miles eyeballs! Did you think he snuck on campus?
And LOLOLOL on anything comparing his athleticism to Welter. OMG
