which is based on this

quote:

The "horned frog" nickname and mascot refer to the Texas horned lizard, as known as the "horned frog".

So really they're the horned lizards, not the horned frogs.

Confused? I am.

I wonder if they have a multi-million dollar horned frog/toad/lizard habitat on campus...

It still isn't as confusing as having the moniker of an over abundance of harmful dinoflagellates, with the symbol of a pachyderm.

We're still the Bengal Tigers even though Mike is more of a Siberian Tiger.

1) LSU is the Fighting Tigers. The Bayou Bengals is just a nickname.
2) Mike VI is a Siberian-Bengal mix.
3) You are comparing LSU using different subspecies of the same animal, to TCU that is confused about which phylogenic class their mascot belongs to.

My guess was they are supposed to be reptiles. I have been in the TCU biology depatment, and they have a whole display of the horned lizards. However, their frequent use of "Frogs" leads me to believe that they just don't know.
