Yes you are. You are making (poorly) a straw man argument that there is some contingent of people who support McMahon blindly and these "Mcmaniacs" are some sort of cabal who must be demolished.
These people do not exist. No one is actually blindly supporting McMahon regardless of the results. You are likely confusing these imaginary people with those that just want to win regardless if its McMahon or his replacement or his predecessor.

They do play hard. And help is on the way.

I would say he is very good at developing bigs and overall team development. I think he has made some blunders with roster management and the NIL budget jumping up into SEC basketball is awfully hard to develop guys if they are only here for one year.
I also think he is a very good second half coach. I am not here to say we don’t have the talent so he doesn’t get to show that, or that at the end of the day we have two losing seasons in three years. But at Murray and in tight games he does push some right buttons.
I think he is a very genuine coach, and players know when a coach gives an f or not about them. How that translates is hopefully we are able to keep together the 2024 recruiting class, Reed and Chest come back. And we are able to get a veteran PG this offseason that has been a starter for 2-3 years that is looking for a coach like Matt.
Lastly I think he arguably has one of the best 8-14 flash sets for under your own goal inbounding so I like coaches that can find 4-6 points that way. Instead of the toss it over the top then run into action.
This is a big if, but if and when he gets some stability with 3 or 4 guys on the court that have played together multiple years, his offense is very crafty and pretty awesome when it comes to the freedom from the elbows extended.
Lastly he is a very good organizer, and a professional in every sense of the word. My favorite term for guys like him is grinder, he came up the hard way in coaching. The amount of time and effort he expects from the team they see him putting it in. Not every coach is like that believe me.
I am neither a cult follower of Will Wade nor a McManiac love them both believe it or not. Did not like Johnny Jones or Trent Johnson whatsoever from the moment they were hired.

If losing by 10 plus more times than not is playing hard than there isn’t much help

It is fair to be critical of CMM for many reasons. But he actually does X’s and O’s quite well. It is not a coincidence that Sears has stopped playing much and we look better in every facet of the game
His biggest mistake this year was picking Bailey over Ward (I have been so critical of Bailey, but now that we have moved to a 4 guard lineup he has played so so much better). And then also ever thinking Sears could be an SEC point guard. He is tiny and not very atheltic and cannot create his own shot. He completely crushed the offense.

I don’t see this my man. I is consistently better in the first half here while getting pantsed in the second half. Texas is a prime example of this

I don't believe there are any McManiacs, McMen, or any other adolescent name you have up your sleeve.
There are LSU fans that recognize the mess he inherented having to build from the ground up. Most of these same fans weren't happy that Wade was fired but were willing to support McMahon since he was the new coach. What was the alternative, cry over Wade for three years?
Those of you using words like McManiacs were never going to give CMM any leeway outside of a tourney appearance which was unrealistic year one.
Year two was a little disappointing but there was improvement but still the McHaters weren't going to accept anything but a Sweet 16. The recruiting looked better, the play was better, but he was mocked every day on the rant.
This year has been nothing short of a major letdown. I think it's valid to question if CMM is the right guy based on this year. But anyone not in their emotions knew he would get a year 4 regardless. So next year he needs to bring it home. If he doesn't, he'll be gone. You just have to accept it, support the team, be a true Tiger fan.
I hope CMM turns it around, not because I'm a McMan but because I'm a McTiger.

Mcmahon is a good coach. Not great, yet, but good. His players play hard for him regardless of the score , standings, ect. He is a good HS recruiter. He has shown he can develop players. His roster mgt is questionable sometimes but he will make changes if needed. His biggest weakness has been bringing in the right players from the transfer portal. Reed going down hurt this team a lot and he could have been the difference in 4-5 SEC games as well as a couple of NC games. They have the talent to compete with just about anyone but they don't have the talent to do it for 40 minutes. He has been competitive without an SEC caliber starting PG and he doesn't have a big physical 4 or 5 which has been the downfall in a bunch of SEC games. He will get another year and an increase in NIL which will be beneficial to him being able to get the type of players needed to pair with his good HS classes in order to compete in the very difficult SEC. We'll see if he's learned ala Kelly in football. If he doesn't then they get rid of him and hire someone else.

Mcpuffs coming in strong with 3 COMPETINGS in a single post

I don’t know that I would call being beaten by double digits more often than not playing hard. If it is then clearly we have guys that don’t belong in the sec.
I’d be more hopeful with MM if we saw progress and weren’t hanging out in the basement of the conference with uncompetitive beat downs.
Jones and Johnson were getting beat down like this. Brady by year 3 had his team rolling year 1 and year 2 he suffered losses but a lot were close games.

I’ll bite even though my brain says not to.
CMM has shown me a few things. Not enough for me to be happy. But I like our offensive sets, especially the high screens that flow into other plays like pick and pops, or bump screen that lead to dumps to the bigs. Also, the development of the freshmen has been fun to watch, especially R Williams.
I like the fact that we never seem to be out of it. if we could just fix those damn droughts. It’s those damn infuriating runs that we give up, over and over, that have cost us in every almost every loss.
I like coach Mac. But I’m giving him one more year to find a true PG. I can’t take another year of lazy passes. And he has one more year to figure out better rotations. Honestly, that’s my only two complaints — I don’t get the lazy passing and the weird rotations of the last two years. (Both of those I bet are the reasons for the big runs).
As an aside, the lack of success for me is mitigated by the fact that the SEC is so frackin’ strong now. From 2013-2018 (and really longer than that) the SEC mid teams were the laughing stock of the big conferences. I’m not making any excuses though. Baseball and football are tough in the SEC and we don’t make excuses, we just expect to overcome and win.
Coach Mac has next season to get it done, or — despite the fact that I like his attitude as a coach — we gotta move on.

One more thing. I don’t control whether Coach Wade comes or goes or Coach Mac comes or goes. I literally have no input so I don’t really care. (Control what you can control and all that.)
All I know is that everything I see suggests Coach Mac gets another year to turn this around.
Or better said, he has only one more year to turn this around.
Clock is ticking…
Now what I’d really like to know is who should come back, who should stay, who do we think will develop, who should be getting more playing time, etc. That’s what I like reading.

Rebuilding from scratch…including convincing athletes with other options to deposit their career fortunes into this dumpster fire that he inherited thanks to the crooked WW trainwreck
It’s year 3 in an era where every coach has to turn over 60-80% of their roster annually. Nice try.
Kelly inherited 39 scholarship players, he won the West in year 1.

We're 3-11 in the SEC.
Our wins:
v. Arky
@ OU
v. USCe
The combined opponent SEC record of our victories? 10-32. .238 winning percentage.
LSU's current place in SEC standings? 15th of 16 teams. 2nd to last place.

quote:CoachMc was arguably the worst coach for Murray State in the prior 30 years. Did it include success? Yes, it did, but also the only losing season and a second season with a .500 record - the only 2 non-winning seasons for that program in the previous 30 years.
Mcmahon is a good coach. Not great, yet, but good.
His tenure thus far at LSU is historically bad. 15-36 SEC record at the tail end of his 3rd season. 3 of the last 4 LSU MBB coaches - Wade, TJ, Brady - all won the SEC within their 3rd season. CJJ was the only one not to win the SEC.
The knighting is completely unjustified.
