That is solid and very logical analysis. And it sounds good except for one thing. You didn't touch on the other side of the ball...defense. LSU was bad offensively this season. They were WORSE defensively. Cook wasn't a great defender at Tulane. Wright was average at Vandy. Baker wasn't known for his defense at either Texas or Nevada. For those who dislike(d) Wade and thought he was a poor coach, the strongest part of your argument could be that his teams (except for his last one) rarely played any defense.

It's great and important to be good on offense. But it has been shown time and time again that the best teams can defend at a high level. I think these additions are good from an offensive perspective (all have shown they can score). I still have my concerns defensively.

Great post CP3.

Do you think it appears CMM learned a lesson and is trying to build on that? It seems he's at least trying to stabilize the program and get pieces that better fit his schemes.

Hopefully, in a few years we'll be able to look back at last year and say he was just in a position he had to take whoever would come and it just didn't work out.

The three he's managed to pull will fill holes, and it sounds like he'll get Girard as well (and possibly Carlos Stewart). This would serve to fix a lot of the shooting woes.

That said, defense and rebounding are massive weaknesses and I don't think any of these additions really help in those areas.

He needs to add an athletic guard who can defend and a big who can protect the rim. If he doesn't we'll be a team that will either shoot the lights out and win or get annihilated.

Would be really nice to get Girard AND Stewart

We definitely need another big too.

After one big win the wheels fell off. I don’t see anyone that can shoot 50% and 35% from three with 80% from the FF line. These are minimums from at least two players in the starting 5. I’ve never seen a Tiger team miss so many layups and put backs either. I’ve been watching since I can remember. 11 years old in 1971. I won’t even talk about turnovers. If we don’t get a competent point guard right now we won’t be “relevant” for a while.

Guess you’ll continue to suffer from limp-dick syndrome for a few years.

Slowly but surely, the reeking of Wade is going away and LSU is going to be able to get solid recruits.

We also now have a coach who knows how to coach.

It may take one of year to completely end the Wade era as his sycophantic fans still fawn over him. But, it is going to finally be over.

Wade made LSU basketball relevant. Woodward and McMahon have reversed the ship. I hope they show better this year.

I'm choosing to ignore that for now, because as much as I like the additions offensively, I dislike them defensively

But I'm also taking a wait and see approach on that end.

Same story last spring then when the losing started those players were blamed and the same will happen this up coming season.

The majority of fan opinions I’ve seen related to last year acknowledge that the team’s performance was about more than the talent shortcoming and give McMahon a fair bit of the blame as well.

His blind, low i.q. fanboys are incapable of criticizing their divine grace, Will Wade.

Can somebody start a Will Wade thread for y’all to continue this pissing match in? Wade has nothing to do with this transfer class, or LSU basketball at this point

True but some are choosing to make it a divisive issue. Reality is I think there may be a small handful of people who come across as contrarian in their pro McMahon views.

Most of us who had been supportive of him also acknowledge that it was a disappointing year and that if year two looks the same then he needs to go.

For whatever reason some people act like to support McMahon is to celebrate Wade’s firing.
