God Damnit. You are correct. I won't edit because I deserve to be ridiculed.

MBB is in good hands. Now if college basketball doesn't frick it up like NCAA football is doing we will be ok.

The way LSU admin thinks about it, this year is Year 2.
That does seem somewhat fair though. I mean wtf was anybody supposed to do with the shitshow he walked into his first year.

Most were saying a .500 SEC season was attainable and the expectation.
No, they weren't. I got blistered on here for projecting 10-8 or 9-9. We had just came off a 2-16 SEC record and the media had us finishing 11th...then we lost one of our best players for over a month...and you actually think the majority of this board was THAT optimistic?

Again, He recuited well both in the portal and from the HS ranks in year 1 and most people predicted us to be middle of the pack in the SEC and a tourney bubble team. This idea that he had a team full of walkons in year 1 is a falsehood.

No one can deny that the program took a major step forward last year.
This year I look forward to seeing Reed and Ward step up as leaders. Last year Ward was solid from 3 and Reed finished the season strong on the boards.
I am also looking forward to seeing how the 5 new players do. They will form the nucleus for the team with Mike Williams for the next few years.
If the 3 senior transfers can do their part we will be good. Sears seems to be doing his part based on reviews.

Half of his portal guys were Murray State dudes that left with him lmao

I feel like I will be happy with CMM for many years to come.

Muh, he had no players, blah bob loblaw. Doesn’t matter we had players return. Doesn’t matter HS class. Doesn’t matter he brought the guys from Murray State and literally said that he could have brought more if he wanted. They have their narrative and nothing will change their ill conceived belief.

Before the season and even during that is what was mostly said about what the expectation for that season should be. By both sides, the anti-McMen were assuming LSU would not get there. I am not saying most were say LSU would achieve that.

That included the OVC Player of the Year from a 31-3 team.

Thanks. Scott. Hope you’re right, but haven’t seen much in the way of on court improvement/development to give much hope. He’s been pretty good at acquiring talent, it’s the second part that seems to be the problem.

I’ve had my doubts, and part of me will always wish we rode with Wade, but I’m gonna choose to believe.

Had 39 scholarship players when he came in.
Won 10 games and a SEC West Title year 1.
Won 10 games and had a heisman winner year two.
Also given a $100 million contract and has us ranked #13 at 4-1.
didnt MM inherit only 1 scholarship player in Mwani Wilkenson? A player who couldn't dribble, pass, or shoot.
I also think CMM is the 15th highest paid sec coach

LSU BBall Roster 2022-23
He inherited Mwani, Adam Miller, and Justice Williams.
He also brought in Justice Hill, Trae Hannibal, and KJ Williams from his 30 win Murray State team. Guys that already knew the system and culture that CMM wants.
Thats 6 players that were retained or brought over, not to mention the other portal gets and the successful HS haul.
He had a team that on paper should have been somewhat competitive and at first they were but the wheels fell off in SEC play.
IMO, he did more with a decent amount less in year 2. Year 3 he seems (on paper) to have more to work with than in both year 1 and year 2. Lets hope its enough to make the tourney and maybe even win a game or 2.

They were good players from his Murray State team that won 30 games the year before. One of them (KJ) was our best player.

The entire roster was still here when he was hired. The portal wasn’t even open until 3 weeks later. Don’t know where this fantasy came from but everyone was still here when McMahon was hired.
