I think that this first half will have no bearing on whether they're good defensively or not. Alcorn is making everything and getting all the bounces.

They've shown the ability to buckle down on defense when needed. They could go on a 20-2 run in the second half and it wouldn't surprise me.

Which team do you think looked better? Year two?

I think it's too early to say this team is "the best". I still see the same issues and it's only 3.5 games in. Too small of a sample size for me to make an opinion.

I see a mixed bag which is what I've felt at this point in the year with all 4 of MM teams.

The oddball performance of the non con was holding uno down as well as we did

You could see the signs for concern even in the blowout wins. The defense is progressively getting worse with each game.

This isn’t a matter of an opponent shooting an inordinate amount of FTs or just being on a big heater from 3. Alcorn is basically getting any look they want

To follow up on this- I still see the same problems I've seen the past four years. It's all the same to me. None of this matters until we play better teams down the road.

McMahon's worst performing OOC team did the best in the SEC (year 2)

All of his best OOC performing teams did the worst in conference (year 1 and year 3).

It's too early to call.

Would like a new 5 just because starting the half.

they're hitting long contested fadeaway 2's as the shot clock expires and getting rattle bounce 3's from the corner. They will come back down to earth in the second half.

They shot 47% for the half.

LSU 52%.

You really can’t take much from this performance. It is another reason why you don’t play these games. Alcorn was on fire and we were lazy. This is what you get.

But I have said multiple times, the only thing that can hold this team back from being not just a tourney team, but like an 8 seed or better, is McMahonMs substitutions

I get wanting to get guys minutes, but he seems to want to play 10 guys and sub needlessly. Nwoko played 10 mins with 0 fouls, 6/6 FG 12 points. Tanna played more, miller played 10 mins, Reed 9. Wtf are we doing? Play him 14. I mean you can’t just sub guys to do it. Is he really going to only play 20 mins a game? I am dumbfounded. This is truly insane Mackinnon plays no defense, makes no shots, and he is playing 15 mins first half? PJ Carter has no business being part of the sub pattern. This is a problem.

Tampa played 11 minute with not a single stat except 2 FTs. It is like taking actual crazy pills. Tamba and Carter are not SEC players, MacKinnon is only useful if hitting 3’s. King plays 6 minutes? wtf?

You play dudes how you play until it is a blowout. If Nwoko doesn’t ever play over 20 mins then and you play all 4 bigs 20 mins, we are so beyond screwed

Shocker, dude shoots over Tamba, MacKinnon is unathletic. This is insane to me

I get that. That's why I said 'looks better' as opposed to 'is better.' I won't trust anything until we are well into the SEC schedule, probably mid-January.

MacKinnon is going through it shooting-wise right now.

that's fair. i think the offense looks better but the defense looks significantly worse so it kind of balances out in my eyes i guess

(sidenote i think last years team was not that bad and just grossly underachieved)

He isn’t “going through it” he is an average shooter. He shot 40% in the WCC. He is going to be a 33% 3P shooter in the sec. So he can’t play D and doesn’t shoot well, what is he doing playing 30 minutes?

Team was awful last year talent wise. Nobody but Cam could score
