Been going to LSUMBB every season since 1966-67 (10th grade year for me). This season is a top 5 worst season ever.
The most upsetting things to me now that WW is gone, is (1) we regressed as the season progressed and (2) recruiting as of now is abysmal.

Press without his son The Pistol was the worst I've ever seen. It was a three win season I believe.

Jk. I agree with everything you said, I just liked the gif.

This is worse. You can’t compare those two era’s.
It is not worse, by any stretch. We won 22 games last year and made the tourney.
Now, you may be assuming that this years performance will continue in years to come, and you might be right, but at this time, it is not even close to being worse than that stretch.

Agree with all of this! Woody is a solid AD, period. Even if it turns out to not be a good hire, we as humans tend to be imperfect. There are an infinite amount of metaphors I could insert here but what would be the point?
Fair or not, there are consequences to our actions. None of us know the “entire story” regarding Wade. Even so, we need to trust our University’s judgement until they prove otherwise.

The basketball team was in a bad way as Wade needed to be fired and as a result you were going to lose players and recruits starting off at dead bottom.
The basketball program wasn't "in a bad way" on the court. In fact, just the opposite. It was probably at its strongest point in decades.
The question that can't be answered right now is was Wade's firing necessary? If he doesn't receive sanctions (like Sean Miller) then it wasn't. If he does, then it probably was necessary (since it would have had to be done anyway)
Arizona fired Miller during the pending investigation. As it turns out, they probably didn't have to since Miller ultimately received no sanctions. The good news for Arizona is the situation could not have worked out better as their hire after Miller (Lloyd) has been tremendous. Unfortunately, that hasn't been the case here as McMahon has just been awful this season. Arguably the worst in the SEC relative to reasonable preseason expectations and actual results.

Correct, they are not competitive. As bad as Johnny Jones teams were. They were competitive.

Nothing much has changed except the Coach's salary.
Do you remember the coach at Ole Miss turned us down, when offered the position.
Nobody wanted the job. So Joe Dean offered it to his Son's friend, John Brady.
Even with "Flash" Woody offering the key to Fort Knox, only Mac would take it.

We did? I don't remember thinking this AT ALL. 1993-94 to 1998-99 were terrible seasons with basically zero bright spots.
MAYBE you saw some bright spots in the 1998-99 season with Stro as a freshman and Jabari Smith, but that team still went 4-12 in the SEC.
But that's still 5 years of bleakness and terrible basketball.

This year has been rough no doubt about it. I understand McMahon came into a tough situation but what’s alarming is that there hasn't been any real improvement as the season has gone on and the recruiting going forward looks bleak.
However, I don’t think LSU would be doing themselves any favors getting rid of McMahon after one season. That wouldn’t send an encouraging message to the coaching world. I’m still holding out hope that the portal will be favorable to us seeing as it could offer immediate and plentiful playing time at a P5 program.
If next year is as bad as this one though (and it pains me to say that’s a very real possibility), then I would not be surprised to see a move being made. I can’t imagine what the PMAC would look like in a year from now all things held constant.

quote:Wade will receive sanctions as he is directly implicated in multiple violations. I guess there is a scinilla of a chance he skates, but it would defy logic. Having said that, Miller's termination appeared to go a lot more smoothly than Wade’s. Wade still had to be fired and could not be allowed to coach the tourney, but if Woody afforded Wade a couple of days to break the news to recruits and players along with a softer message around the firing it could have gone a long way to keeping the program at a higher level for the next coach. Maybe the same players would have left. I think there was no chance we kept the recruits.

Stromile was a top 10 prospect in the country coming out of high school. For John Brady to get him to come to LSU in the middle of the sanctions was massive. Were you not alive?!

Other HC's weren't fired when the NOA arrived (Hardaway at Memphis, Self at Kansas). So I disagree that that LSU "needed" to be fired...though there certainly was justification in doing so.

If I had to bet, I would agree. But, frankly, I'm less sure about that now than I was previously. I'm not buying some TD "report" that Ole Miss is considering Wade for their job. If anything, I would bet that is Wade's agent trying to generate interest in Wade from other schools because I seriously doubt he wants to go to Ole Miss. But it would be telling if schools were, in fact, looking into him. That could suggest Wade can present some form of assurance he will not be sanctioned. Not unlike Miller when Xavier hired him this season while the Arizona case was still pending. I'm certain Xavier wasn't going to hire a HC they would then have to get rid of right away because of NCAA sanctions.
If Wade doesn't get sanctions, then it was an unwise decision to fire him because doing so unnecessarily killed the program. LSU basketball is basically at the same point it was at the conclusion of the 16-17 season. Arguably made worse by the fact there is not a coaching change on the horizon.
