Going forward
It seems suspensions are always an issue

Does it?

Refresh my memory cause I don't really remember this as being a big issue.

Maybe our players should do what they're supposed to do and follow the rules in place at any given time

I personally like a big time game in week 2. Let me enjoy LSU throttling some lesser team, have delusions of grandeur for at least a week. Then week 2 let’s play a home and home with a big boy.

Similar to 2019 with Georgia Southern and Texas.

I’m fine with either as long as there isn’t the week 0 asymmetry like last year. It was absolute malpractice not to have that in every opener contract after VT 2002.

But the 2 juggernauts did it differently: 2011 went Oregon, NSU while 2019 went Georgia Southern, Texas.

Week 0 games against scrubs should be scheduled every year for the bye week convenience and as a good ramp up for the real games. Malpractice that lsu isnt doing that. Nothing to do with suspensions though

How about we’re just ready to play and win?

I’m fine with it as long as the week one opponents don’t naneak a week zero game in.

Needs to be a clause about that.

What a “give up” culture we live in. Maybe it’s time to nut up and stop crying about anything and everything

Yep - pretty ignorant especially when a loss takes you out of the current playoff picture. This game is for a potential playoff spot. Let's not be foolish enough to think we lose to FSU then run the table.

I’m kind of irritated that LSU and FSU seem to be the only schools that went out of their way to schedule a really competitive week one matchup.

I remember in prior years when LSU scheduled season openers and beat teams like Oregon State, TCU, Miami, North Carolina, Washington, Arizona State, Oregon, Wisconsin @NRG, BYU, etc … nobody cried and acted like a pussy. Even when LSU opened @ UCLA and Wisconsin, fans were very confident that LSU was gonna kick their arse and dominate playing SEC football.

The fact is when LSU has the talent, great game coaching, and players execute on the field, NO team can beat LSU.

Recent season opening losses to UCLA, @ Wisconsin, and FSU were due to suspect coaching decisions and players shiiting in the bed. Some fans need to quit being soft and whining about who LSU plays in game 1. Trust the coaches and players will show up and play LSU physical football.

We had 2 losses last year and would have made it by beating A&M and UGA.

If we win out after losing to FSU we are certainly in. Probably as the 1 or 2 seed

I disagree, esp out of conference.

In the 12 team playoff era you're hardly going to be punished with losing to a top team (unless it's a blowout) and you stand to be nicely rewarded should you win. If Sunday is a close win or loss I fully expect both teams to not be judged harshly and stay pretty high in the polls.

Unless you lose bad, they're net positives for your postseason hopes.

You usually get to pick the game the player will miss. LSU didn’t get to pick because Mason missed last year when he was supposed to be suspended. So NCAA said season opener. Such BS. Johnny Football got half a game?
