Mental health is more important than a gold medal.
The rule is dumb. You can literally have glass of whiskey the night before your meet.
Weed is legal all over the world. Change the rule.

I understand your point on the rules are the rules but as they pertain to LSU it is for sure our compliance department being stupid because we are hampering ourselves in that area. If other schools are not testing for it, why are we? You wanna stay in the past? You will get passed.
I would like to also point out that yes, the athletes at LSU who are doing it are pretty stupid but it shouldn’t even be a problem we have to worry about.

What part of smoking weed makes it enhancement for competing?

Her mom died so she smoked weed? Makes sense.

What part of the rule that says if you do it you are out is so hard to understand? These weak individuals are willing to give up millions to get high. I'll never understand it.

Yes, it does make sense. Everyone copes different. Marijuana is beneficial to mental health.

You’re right you won’t, so stop insulting those who choose things you don’t agree with. You have no clue, and you admit it.
And she is suspended for 30 days backdated so she’s still eligible for other meets in the Olympics. Plus she’s still going have a ton of endorsements in the future. She’ll be just fine.

THEMS THE RULES

It's against the rules so don't do it, if any of these athletes cannot follow them like the rest of the world then they don't need to compete. It's simple don't do drugs

zOMG someone smokes some weed in college, they should know better!
As a side point, it's ok to blame both things, the rule for being absolutely stupid and useless, and the athlete for knowing the rule and still breaking it. Granted, again, easier to forgive a college kid for smoking some weed, less so an entity having such a dumb rule to follow.

I just don’t get it. They go through the discipline of getting their bodies in top physical shape. They sacrifice so much. Then they smoke and just risk it all.

On behalf of anyone that’s lost a parent at a young age, you and others in this thread need to check yourselves. I completely understand her comment the she “didn't know how to control my emotions or deal with my emotions during that time” and used MJ as a coping mechanism bc that’s exactly what happens.
Even for people who are very strong minded and have high EQ, death of a parent throws you completely out of whack in a very irrational way for an undetermined amount of time. It’s different for everyone and impossible to explain, but you realize in the moment your actions don’t make sense but are still unable to fix yourself. Then you get all in your head about this which becomes a vicious cycle and you just look for any out. Throwing in training & competing as a world class athlete on top of that, I can’t even fathom.
Like I said, it’s a complex and difficult situation to deal with anytime, but especially at a young age. Maybe try some empathy for a young person dealing with some completely understandable mental issues.

She didn't try to excuse it she just provided context. She said she knew it was wrong. If she didn't say anything everyone would shite on her assuming she was just watching sponge bob and didn't give a shite. Then she does offer some context and everyone shits on her. She had a weak moment and screwed up her consequences are just more severe for her career than a normal person.
What's funny is if she would have gotten hammered as a response to the death, driven, and gotten a DWI she wouldn't have a problem.

while this is true it is fair to point out that this generation is being told by one of the two major politcal parties that personal accountability isn't necessary and nothing they do wrong as their fault as individuals. Society failed them.

We’ve been blaming LSU compliance for years for being too strict about weed, but its obvious that LSU just has some of the dumbest athletes (past & present) in the world when it comes to marijuana use.
Forget the debate about whether marijuana should be legal or illegal. They know its against the rules to use it but they don’t care.
sexual assault is also against the rules and compliance turned a blind eye toward that.
Underage drinking is against the law, should we toss everyone off the football team or out of school that drinks before turning 21? its a matter or priorities and perspective. The fact that LSU compliance is so strict on weed makes the sexual assault stuff even worse

I would say that going to jail, the thousands of dollars in fines, and time lost due to community service is a “problem”.
It is the known consequence, just like the IOC drug rules. Nobody would be in here saying she shouldn’t go to jail or pay the fines.

I love the mentality that argues all day advocating for weed while completely ignoring the only facts that matter. It’s against the rules and it’s still illegal in most places Until it’s not against the rules, stfu about telling me why it’s ok to do it.
Please MORE of this type of logic on this board on all issues, topics, & fronts. 2 Thumbs up Sir!
